Has anyone stayed in either of these? We are looking at these hotels for our pre-cruise stay (2 nights). I'd love any input you have. Thanks!

Are you picking Melbourne for a reason? There was a thread on staying in Melbourne a week ago or so and if you aren't coming up from the south it's out of the way and not worth the cost savings for the additional travel time if flying into Orlando airport.

Since we are doing 2 nights before the cruise, we thought we'd like to stay on the beach. It looked like Melbourne might be an extra 30 minutes or so to the south of port canaveral, is that right?

We love the Hilton in Melbourne. In fact we will be staying there for our 3rd time this coming September before the DVC Member cruise. It is peaceful and beautiful. And we like the drive up to the port. We always stop at Ron Jon's, just because, and if we need anything there is a Wal-Mart close by too. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. Good luck with making your choice.

We have a reservation at the Hilton in Melbourne but I was having a hard time deciding btwn. the Hilton and the Crowne Plaza. Is the Ron Jon surf shop on the way to the terminal (i.e. south of the terminal)? If so, that will work out great!

Do the rooms have real balconies or just a railing outside the door? I had heard that they were not real balconies...

Where do you recommend to eat? Is it a good pool for kids?

Thanks!

Yes, the hotel is south of Ron Jon's on A1A. So you will pass it going up to the terminal.

No, sorry to say the rooms do not have real balconies. There is room for you to step out of the door and lean against the railing but not enough room for chairs or anything. I suppose you could pull the chair up close to the door if you wanted to.

We have always just eaten at the hotel, so, I don't have any recommendations for you there. And the pool, well, it is just a pool. There is a hot tub there too. But it is nice that you can take the kids to the beach and they can play out there.

Hope this helps a little. Have Fun!!!
