I'm wondering how people have found out or been notified that DCL has given them an upgrade.

Phone call from TA (24 hours to say if I wanted it or not)
luggage tags with different number
DCL site with gty number higher than 12 (it was an 11)

I found out by checking my reservation on the DCL website, about 2 weeks prior to cruising it changed. We booked a cat. 11 guarantee, and were upgraded to a cat. 9.

I pulled up my reservations online a few weeks before we went, and found out then.

I checked on the DCL website and received a phone call from member service to inform us the same day as the change. We book directly with DCL. Upgraded from a cat 8 to cat 5.

We have never been called by DCL or a TA. The first cruise we reserved an 11 so had an odd numbered stateroom midship when we booked. I went in to pay the balance at the TA's office a month before it was due and when she handed me the receipt printout from DCL it had an even numbered room on a different deck. I started crying. :) The next time I was checking the site 2 weeks before we left for the cruise to see if we were switched to early dining and we were but I was upset that we had been moved to deck 8 from 7004 where we were next to our friends. ROFL Meanwhile, DH had grabbed the passporter and looked up the room number and told me to be quiet because we were in a cat 4 now. :)

I'm wondering how people have found out or been notified that DCL has given them an upgrade.

They called and left a message on my cell phone 2 weeks before we sailed. We went from a Cat 8 GTY to a Cat 6. They said to just write the new cabin # on our tags. Funny thing was back then, at the time, I rarely used my cell phone so it was OFF! I could've gone DAYS before finding out but just happened to turn it on to make a call and found the message waiting!

How exciting!!!

Yes it was and I called our friends to find out if they were upgraded and they said no because they had received their docs and had 7500 on it. The next day we got an email that they were curious and looked it up on the site and they were upgraded to 8000. :)

We have sailed DCL twice, and we are booked for our third cruise.
We have never received an upgrade. Here is hoping for one this time.............pixiedust:

I also wanted to ask those of you that have been upgraded a question.
Did all of you book GTY? Or did any of you pick your room?
We have sailed with another cruise line and booked GTY. We were upgraded. With DCL we have always picked our room. Does that mean that we will not be upgraded? I wonder if we should start booking GTY and not worry about picking our room.

We booked stateroom 6020, which was one of the few staterooms left since we booked 2 months out. Upgrade at 30 days to room 7636. There are only 3 of us traveling and the room we had accommodated 4 while the upgraded room only accommodates 3. I assume they needed the room for 4 people but we'll take it. :cool1:

T'was the day before our cruise. We were in a KMart in Orlando, shopping when low and behold our TA called to tell us we were upgraded from a Cat 7 to a Cat 4. Thanks Tink :tink:

We have cruised with Disney twice before (both times Category 8 with a specific room) and have never been upgraded! Booked for our third cruise (cat 8 specific room again) and hoping for an up-grade third time lucky!!!!!
We are celebrating our wedding anniversay and have told DCL this, will this make any difference to our chances of an up-grade?

There are people in every situation that have been upgraded on DCL. There is no set formula. We were upgraded with specific rooms each time but there have been people upgraded with a GTY. We book early when the dates open up and others have reported getting upgrades when they booked close to the cruise date.

2.28 will be our fifth cruise and no upgrades so far..my mom is traveling with us in a HC room...we have requested to be near each other...so I don't believe we would be upgraded -it would mean two rooms upgraded...including a HC room...

Pixie dust...is welcome...

We have cruised 5 times and are heading for #6 later this week. We were upgraded from a Cat 9 on Deck to to a Cat 6 on Deck 6. I found out when I was completing our on line check in forms and printing out the contract and then noticed the different stateroom number. Then yesterday I received a call from DCL telling us about the upgrade and that all we needed to do was change the room number on our luggage tags.

Never dreamed we would get an upgrade since it's just DH and I that cruise.
