Hi Everyone-
It's been a while since i have posted on here, but i am back with some questions.
I will be attending my first ever Mardis Gras :cool1: on April 4th.
How does it all work-where is the best place to stand/sit, i have 2 girls 7+3 if that makes a difference(don't want them getting trod on).Would love to see MCHammer-but does that mean we will miss the parade?.Does it all happen inside the studios?.We have other plans for during the day,so what's the best time to arrive-would we have time to fit rides in?.Sorry for all the questions,i am sure there will be more. Thanks guys+gals.x.

i found that thread to answer most if not all your questions.

if you still have more questions after reading thru that thread, feel free to post them here.

always glad to help others....:wave2:

I also have a few questions about Mardi Gras. Thanks for the link, mac. I read through and there is some helpful info there. I also searched the boards and still have a few things I am trying to determine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Will US stay open through the whole day or will it close at 6pm and re-open at night? We were planning on being there on 2/21, it would be our first visit. We have no interest in the concert, but would be interested in being in the park at night. Will the entire park, and all rides, be open? If so, is the whole park generally really crowded, or does the crowd mostly accumulate by the parade and concert?

Lastly, will US being crazy crowded all day? We are staying on-site and will have fotl, but I am wondering if the crowds will be intense all day, or if we could do US in the morning and just head to IOA as US gets more crowded.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Mardi Gras is not a hard ticket event,if you're there during the day you can stay for the parade, festivities and concert.Usually what happens is around 4-5 pm you will start seeing employees dressed up many with stilts entertaining the crowds,New Orleans style food booths open up,music groups from New Orleans play in the streets.I think usually the parade is at 8pm which is full of employees and even park visitors throwing beads from the parade floats. If you want to catch the concert and see the parade I suggest you see the parade route map and locate a section close to the concert stage.I assume the concerts will be in the stage which is being remodeled, assume because the event is getting closer and I don't know if it will be ready, but I don't know where else you can put that many people to watch the concerts so I'll assume it'll be finished by then. The parade used to start over by Jaws go through New York to the front of the park in front of the stage and then makes a turn where it'll go close to the lagoon and finish going backstage next to Bettlejuice. So in My opinion to see the concert stay by the stage by the street or somewhere in New York to Jaws and as soon as it goes by you haul over to the stage and pass all the people still waiting for the parade.Or just follow it and continue catching beads,I do that sometimes!!

Universal will close at the regular time and will not allow anyone else in the park...so it's not like HHN where the park does close and then open later. I believe only selected attractions...near the concert are open during the evening. I can't really remember from two years ago but I think I'm correct. I doubt the Studios will get really crowded until later in the afternoon. Depending upon who's performing that night, the crowd could be HUGE!

Since you're staying onsite, the lines should be of no concern to you but your plan of the Studios and then over to IOA makes sense.

I do not believe the rides are open once the parade starts or shortly before. Due to the parade route the only rides that could possibly be open are those in the area from MIB back towards, Simpsons and on to ET and Curious George. I do not believe those going after the beads would respect lines to enter a ride along the parade route. :cool1:

I will forgo the parade to watch MC Hammer. I saw him in concert when I was 12!
