Transatlantic and DCL airfare

I asked over on my cruise meet thread, but I think it got buried fairly quickly.

For those of you who did the WB transatlantic (or any of the med cruises) last time, if you got your air through DCL, what was the itinerary like? All I keep hearing from my travel agent is that it would be a red-eye flight. Well, I know what a red-eye flight is... but is it leaving here (TX) in the middle of the night? or arriving there (Barcelona) in the middle of the night? Is there a hotel included? When can we expect to arrive at the port?

and when they said red eye, it's flying all night and arriving in Barcelona in the morning. From here in NJ the flights leave about 8/9 pm. Apparently that's the most efficient way of getting there.

I'll be leaving from Orlando on the red-eye for the WB transatlantic. My understanding the last time was that the flight left MCO around 5pm with a stop in Atlanta (all flights were via Delta) and then on over to Barcelona arriving Saturday morning.

lilygator: my price quote from MCO to BCN is 1,470 for 2 adults and this includes transfers from BCN to the ship. I will definitely be shopping for a better deal if I find one as time draws closer, but at the time of booking the price of fuel was sky high and I thought this was a decent deal.

what were the costs?

I think ours are $1082ish/pp from Austin. Like the PP said, that seemed like a decent deal due to fuel prices at the time. We are allowed to drop the air before final payment at no extra cost, should we find a better deal. I hope we can find a grocery store or something similar to pick up a few things for the cruise (namely beer and wine - which saved us a BUNDLE on the last cruise), But I wonder how a box of wine would fair in luggage... bagged and bagged and bagged of course.

For the 2007 WB TA, DD and I flew out of Chicago/Ohare at about 6:00pm. We had a connection in Munich and arrived in Barcelona about 9:30am We booked our own flights, less expensive and I had control of seats, flight times and connection times. I wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to change planes and for our luggage to make the change as well. We arrived the morning of embarkation. Now, the only reason I arrived the same day was because the Magic spent the night in Barcelona, setting sail the next evening.

Wow! From Columbus, Ohio to BCN it's $983/pp through DCL. Albeit you won't have a second leg after you get to Orlando to fly you home home, but still, that sound pretty darn good to me!

If you're flying to Barcelona for the WB Transatlantic cruise, try to arrive at least 1 day in advance, if not longer. Since you're flying all the way to Europe, try to SEE some of it before you get on a ship to head back to the US! I would do the same if on the EB cruise: try to spend additional time in Europe while you're there.

I'm on a WB Transatlantic cruise in September from Harwich to NJ -with 8 great ports along the way. However, I'm leaving home a week early to visit a friend in Germany and then go to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days.

we booked our transport with Disney and got a feel for the pricing based on the 09 pricing. If we see 2010 pricing is much less, we will cancel Disney transport and book our own
