Day 4 Wednesday
Well, the final day had arrived and I felt pretty glum. I really didn't want to leave. Kev was feeling a lot better, but definitely not up to trailing around the Park. I decided to leave him in the room, with Emilia, while I went around the Park, and took advantage of a bit of EMH. First, a photo call at breakfast, with the First Lady of Disney herself:
I wanted a final photo of the other 'Ladies of Disney' in our DHL room. I want that headboard!
Yet another of the youngest two:
We had a nice bit of customer service. I went down to Reception and explained that DH had been ill. I asked if it would be possible for him to stay in our room until we left. As we were catching the VEA at 12.30, they agreed. This was great for him and Emilia as he could relax and she could have a good old crawl around.
I have to say something about winter clothing. My two are hardly ever pictured in hats and gloves. Jess refused to zip her coat up and a random woman on BTM ticked me off a bit by trying to get her to zip her coat up, after telling her she would get cobwebs in her hair on the ride! Anyway, I basically overdid it with the warm clothing. Jess had on thermals, tights, salopettes, fleece and snow boots, topped off with a thick coat. She was like toast. Every time I checked her hands, she was super-warm. I'd rather they were too warm than too cold though. One other thing: don't bother buying Gumbies. I bought them for myself and Olivia because I thought they were waterproof. They are not! They have a basic design fault in that the backs of the boots are suede, so let in the water. Result: wet feet.
Rant over!
If anyone ever wonders whether to bother going to the Parks on their last day, just see what we would have missed, had we not taken advantage of the couple of hours we had...
First of all we went on BTM, twice! We all love this ride. It was much easier without a pushchair and rucksack to think about (Sorry Emilia). We headed to see the Dragon and on the way, we heard some familiar music. It was the Character Express!
We stood and watched with an unobstructed view. I was twirling Jess round and having a good old dance. Olivia was a bit embarrassed. We then headed back up to the Castle to see the dragon. Despite being a scaredy cat, Jess had a soft spot for this particular DLRP resident.
As we entered Fantasyland, we were surprised to see the Sleeping Beauty show, so we stood and watched this. The Park was really empty and although it was raining very lightly, it wasn't too cold to stand around. Olivia got a picture with a Lord and Lady (?) These two were really lovely and tried to encourage Jess to get in the photo. She wouldn't oblige. Boy am I glad I didn't pay £80 for me and her to eat at Auberge! She had to be pushed to stand with any character and was soooo shy around them. It took me by surprise as she is my super-confident dancing queen.
We went on Peter Pan again. This is Disney to me! We were going to go on the Carousel but time was limited and Olivia was desperate to spend the last of her money. We visited the Emporium and the girls spent a few euros and then we reluctantly headed towards the exit. Once again, we heard some familiar music - it was Mary Poppins! Jessica is a particular fan and was thrilled to see the show. We stood and watched this for a while and then it was time to go.
We got back to our room and Kev had finished the last of the packing. It was time to leave the room. Olivia was sitting on the bed, looking very sorry for herself. Kev asked Olivia and Jessica if they had enjoyed Disneyland Paris. I started singing 'Just like we dreamed it...' and Olivia burst into tears! I asked her what was wrong and she said that she never wanted to leave. This is so unlike her. I hugged her and told her not to cry. She said, 'Please Mum, don't sing that song - it makes me so sad, I want to cry.' So that is why the trip report is called 'Just Like We Dreamed It' - because the song is officially banned in our house because it makes Olivia cry! Well, I just had to promise another trip, didn't I?
