Any idea if party of 3s are less/more likely to get an upgrade? I know party of 4 is auto. upgraded to 11. We have sailed once with SPH and loved split bath, my only concern for an 11 or 12 b/c there is so much to do.

You cover it well, any 4 party cruisers will get an upgrade from Cat 12, any 3 party, you do not know.

It dpends if DCL have oversold this Cat, they can do, its a back door discount, overselling this level as its the cheapest.

I would say you have a slightly higher chance of an upgrade than higher Cat's but only ever book a room you are happy with and can stay in for your cruise as upgrades are rare.

We leave in a week, our group booked 5 rooms in various different categories. The family of 3 who booked a cat 12 are sailing in a cat 12, no upgrades were made. All 5 families are first time cruisers and none of us got an upgrade; we booked 6 months ahead and our ship is now full.

We sail as a party of 2. We currently have a B2B scheduled. On the first leg, we are in the 12. On the second leg we are in an 11.

The most common upgrade regardless of party size is from a 12 to an 11 (sorry, I don't consider this to really be an upgrade.....). From there, it really is just a matter of how many 12s were sold and what the ship's inventory looks like.

We have booked cat 12's on three of our five cruises.

Once as a party of three and we were upgraded to a cat 11, deck five aft. LOVE this location!

Twice as a party of four, first time we were upgraded to a cat 9 deck one, and for our upcoming three day in Feb. we have been assigned to a cat 10 deck two.

My daughter booked a cat. 12 for a party of two and was assigned a cat. 12.

I much prefer a window, but if booking an inside room means I am able to be on the ship, then I deal with it! I find three days without a window to be about my comfort limit, but whatever it takes ;)

Have a wonderful cruise!

We sailed on the Magic in December as a party of 3 and were upgraded to a cat 11. We were able to upgrade to a cat 8 at the port for $359.00, so I can't comment on how it was to stay in a cat 11 or 12 though.

We booked 2 Gty 12's for our family of 6 ... realizing that they don't have connecting Cat. 12's, do you think if we were upgraded, they would upgrade both rooms?

Thanks!

If you are linked they will upgrade both rooms. We had this happen to us and our friends a few years ago. However, we had specific rooms that we chose when we booked and they kept us next to each other when they upgraded us. If you book GTY cat 12s DCL does not have to put you next to each other, or even on the same deck, if you are upgraded. That is part of the gamble you take when you book 12 GTY. They do not have to honor any requests for adjoining staterooms.

We are a party of 3 and we booked GTY 12 and got Cat. 11.
Same room size so really not an upgrade, just a higher deck. But I'm just as excited to be on a Disney ship anyway!!!! We sail in about 2 weeks!!!!

Just got off the Magic yesterday. We (two in our party) booked a cat 12. We got a cat 9, deck 2 upgrade.
