Anyone have any guesses on where this might be located? Any chance for more than one place.

I have finally acquired a 3G USB card (verizon) and no longer very concerned with broadband access. I have been surprised at how well it works.

Nonetheless, I would be totally surprised if they didn't have ethernet connections in the villas since they are new construction and comparatively isolated.

I do know that I read differently on the dvcnews website, thus the reason I asked.

"Despite their rustic name and appearance, the Treehouse Villas will feature state-of-the art fiber optic connections for telephone, Internet and cable TV service."

Now the question arises - where might it or they might be......

Wow... Hope that is true. If so, I would expect wireless routers in each THV.

After our HHI experience, I would think they would have wireless in the THV instead of Ethernet. I hope they do.

HHI has excellent wireless access and my Iphone very rarely found a 3G connection. I did have Edge however.

I think in the long run, wireless would be cheaper since they have to keep replacing those cables.

For the sake of this thread I would like to toss cell phones out of the discussion as it is not what I am asking about.

I would like to know how a laptop connects to the internet with the DVC provided connections in each treehouse.

I would think a laptop would connect via wi-fi in the new treehouses.

I used my phone as an example of having limited connectivity on HHI which is relatively remote with alot of trees, but our Villa still had excellent Wi-Fi service for our laptop (actually took 2 laptops and an Iphone)

If they do offer Ethernet (connection via cable) I would hope they would offer more than 1 port, like 1 in the Living Area and 1 in the Master Bedroom. That's why I think it would be more cost effective all-around to offer wi-fi in the THV, as they have at HHI and VB.

Sorry for the confusion:wizard:

I'm betting it will be one wired port, in an awkward place to reach, and a cord so short you can't sit anywhere comfortable. Oh wait, that's all the other DVC resorts.

Yes ma'am... sorry. My bad. :sad1:

Probably in a couple posts I'm going to be apologizing to you for calling you ma'am when in fact you're a guy, But I am risk taker... :3dglasses

I'm with Dave. Wired, in the closet, installed by Col. Mustard.

:)

Edit: Just noticed you're in VA... Howdy neighbor!

You mean like in the SSR 1 BR master bedroom way in the corner furthest from the door so that you can not access it when the children are asleep.

No you must mean by the small table in the VWL studio by the lock-off door that also can not be reached by the adults reading by the light of the bathroom as the kiddies snooze away.

(BOTH INSTANCES LAST TRIP)

Remind me to bring 25 ft wire and/or my wireless router just in case!

Thanks for the non-rabbit trailed thoughts...... :)
