Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!
Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!
7th December 2008.
Well after not much sleep the previous night we were both fast asleep until about 3am when our neighbour in the room next door decided to have a PARTY! I don’t just mean a few people talking loudly it was a full on party with at least 20 people laughing & shouting with the music blaring!
We both shot out of bed wondering what an earth was going on!! Lee started to get dressed to go and tell them to turn it down but I suggested that we call the front desk instead….you could clearly tell they were all drunk and in this day & age it’s not worth the risk. Lee rang the front desk and they said they would send security straight up. We waited for about half an hour and it was still the same, they were even out in the hallway aswell now.
I was getting really mad as I just wanted to get some sleep. With no sign of it stopping Lee called down again to see if security had been up? They had! She said they would come up again immediately….I think she had received lots of complaints by this point. After a few minutes it went quiet and we heard the security guy as he walked back along the corridor. We got back into bed & could still hear them all laughing & talking but at least the music was off……..for about 5 minutes! OMG! We were furious, it was 4am for goodness sake!!!
Lee rang down to the poor lady on the front desk and he wasn’t rude to her but clearly told her to send security again and tell them to clear the people out of the room and then stay in the corridor to make sure they don’t come back! After about 15 minutes the music finally stopped & we heard the rabble leaving as they all went along the corridor laughing & singing. It was about 4.50am by the time we finally got back to sleep then at 7am the alarm went off! ARRHHHHHHH!!!
We got up and showered and we were out by 8am. I drove to the nearby Walgreens to get some more cough medicine and also some soft tissues as I now had a runny nose and was starting to resemble Rudolph!
Finally we set the TomTom for Busch Gardens and off we went. I had been driving along the I4 for about 5 minutes…..when OMG!!! a police siren was blaring and I looked in my rear view mirror to see a police car up my backside and a very angry looking policeman pointing me to the hard shoulder. 
I should point out here that I have never been pulled over in my life and I was so scared! My heart was in my mouth!!! Lee was repeatedly telling me to clam down & pull over. My legs were shaking and according to Lee I was as white as a ghost….even my red nose! 
I pulled over & watched as he got out and walked up to the passenger side of the car, Lee put his window down and the policeman asked if I knew what speed I was doing….to which I replied No, I’m sorry 
– I am embarrassed to say I actually didn’t! He then asked me if I knew what the speed limit was….to which I replied No, I’m sorry….. 
he then told me that the limit was 55mph & that I had disrespected him by overtaking him at speed as he was doing 65! Opps! I apologised over & over. I felt like a little girl being told off. 
He said I was lucky as he was going to let me off but to pay more attention & stick to the speed limits in future! PHEW!! What a relief. See I told you all I enjoyed the driving at little too much!!!! 
Thankfully the rest of the journey to Busch Gardens went without a hitch and we arrived safely at 10.30am….a little later than planned but never mind. Here is the Christmas tree just outside the park entrance.
We entered the park and headed straight to the tour desk to check in for our Saving a Species tour. We are given a map with the meeting point & told to be there at 12.45pm. By now it was 11am & as we hadn’t eaten yet we were starting to feel hungry so we grabbed a cheeseburger & coke each from the Zagora café as it was the nearest place. Once we had eaten we went round to see the alligators.
We then continued up to the Myombe Reserve and watched the apes & other primates, they fascinate me and I could watch them for hours especially this big guy:
On the way up to the elephant enclosure we saw came across Rudolph the red nose…..Zebra? LOL!
We got to the Elephant enclosure just as the keeper was talking about the 5 Asian elephants they have at the park and explaining who was the matriarch & how old they were etc.. I love elephants they are my favourite animals (other than my doggies of course).
It was almost time for our tour so we walked to the meeting point and meet up with our tour guide, Sean. We were slightly early so sat on a bench & waited about 10 mins for the others to arrive. Once the others had arrived we all walked over to the loading point and climbed aboard the back of the truck. It is a bit of a bumpy ride going over the mud so you are advised to hold on tight to the edge. As soon as we headed out onto the Serengeti Plains we are approached by three Giraffes….

Finally this is Jafary…he knows where the lettuce is kept!
Sean our guide then gives us lots of information on each of them and he gives us all some lettuce leaves to feed to them. This is my hand feeding Cupid, you can’t tell by this picture but they absolutely slobber you with their extremely long tongue! (We have done this tour before so were aware what to expect this time round!)
Once we had all fed the Giraffe several times we moved on to see a White Rhino called Keyan. Whilst we were there his keeper arrived and gave him a cardboard box to play with, it was so cute to watch as he was scared to go near it as first but soon destroyed it.
We drove further up to see the Black Rhinos. We were very close to a mum & her 8 month old, 800lb baby called Crash!

Considering how small the stage/ice was I was amazed at the jumps & spins the skaters did. It also snowed on the audience at the end.
