Airtran non stop changes

Does Air Tran change non stop flights to connecting flights often? Has anyone ever flown non stop with them?
Thanks for the help!

We flew with them nonstop Detroit -Orlando return back in October. They changed our flight twice but always sent us an email telling us the flight was changed. They did not replace the non stop with a connecting flight, they replaced the time the nonstop flight was at if this makes sense.

They do change non-stops to connecting flights on occasion, as do all airlines when the situation warrants it. We've flown on AirTran for years and have never had a non-stop changed on us.

From what I have seen, Airtran could move you to a connecting flight if your non-stop is cancelled. I have seen many reports of this on this board. If the non-stop simply is moved, they will move you to the new time...

I fly them non-stop and have had no problems, beyond the schedule changing quite often. I have found that they are very easy to work with if they change the schedule to something that is not acceptable. They are willing to work with you to find a flight that does work or refund your money....

Happy travels!

I have had AirTran cancel my nonstop flight and move me to a direct flight (stop in Chicago with no debark). I have flown AirTran numerous times, and I always will choose a nonstop. Only once have they ever cancelled my flight.

When AT moved our non-stop, they moved us to a connecting flight because the departure time was similar. They still had a non-stop flight, but it was about 4 hours different than our originally scheduled flight. They moved us to a connecting flight that was only about 30 minutes different. I just called them up and told them that I want the non-stop and it doesn't matter what time it departs. They changed me without a problem.

We're flying AirTran nonstop out of Milwaukee in January. Have never flown with them before and I'm getting a little nervous because of the various threads I'm reading. The plane is quite if not completely full. I know no one can predict the future, but any ideas if you think I might have anything to be worried about or anyone have any experience flying with them out of Milwaukee?

I was worried too before our flight, everyone kept saying how they were changing their times. It was my first time flying & I thought it all went well. I think it'll be fine.

Since you all have experience with AirTran, when you purchase online do you pay then for your checked bags or when you arrive for check in?

I know with Alleigant we pay when we book and if you don't it's $50 at the counter rather than $30 T.

I went through the booking online and couldn't seem to run across it.:confused3

You pay when you check-in online or at the airport. I recommend online check-in regardless of whether you have checked bags or not. It does offer some protection against getting bumped from an oversold flight and saves time at the airport.

Thank you! I did see their online check in.:goodvibes

I booked everything through the Disney site so I could'nt check in online. It went pretty fast at the airport though.

Last Setember our Air Tran non-stop return flight was changed to a connecting flight. Becasue we had booked through AAA I received no notice, but just happened to see it on their website while obsessively checking. There was no other direct flight that day so we just kept the connecting flight.

Our September nonstop from IND to MCO was changed in June. It was the to depart mid-morning. I called (received no email) since we were changed to a flight with a stop in Atlanta and much later arrival time. They were wonderful and put us on the first nonstop out of IND---adding a full day to our trip. I had origianally wanted this flight but couldn't justify spending over $100+ more for it. Later on in the summer our cancelled flight reappeared! The customer service was wonderful about switching us---we had prepaid for seats and got the same ones. Just keep checking your flights on your own..it became a daily thing for me...our flight did change times a few times after June resulting in an earlier arrival which was great for us. About a month out from our departure we received emails about the time change.

I was booked on a 2pm flight non stop from MCO to Boston. The flight was cancelled. I am now on a noon flight (although that time has changed a few times) which is direct. I have since accepted that my 3 hour nonstop flight is now a direct flight that takes 4.5 hours (30 minute layover without getting off). I'm just not sure I understand the geographic need to go from Orlando via Ohio to get to Boston.

To pick up Ohio passengers going to Boston so they don't have to go to Atlanta first. :)

what is the charge to pre choose your seats?? we're considering trying this airline for the first time for a May trip, but I"m still a bit concerned about flying with them..

Read on the website...all the information is there! If you have a family and kids and want to make sure you sit together then you should buy your seats. You will probably find people who paid for their seats will NOT move for those who choose NOT to pay for their seats. It is a great airline.
