WWYD re late nite/early AM arrival to MCO?

I can book a flight that would put us into MCO at 11:30 PM. I figure by the time I fetch our luggage and grab either a cab or shuttle to RPR at Universal, it's going to be well after midnight...which technically IS my check-in day, however I'm about 14 hours earlier than the usual "check in" time.

So, wondering if I should take my chances and hope my room is ready at 1 or 2 AM (club level room if that matters), book an extra night at RPR so I know I have a room or just grab a room at the hotel inside the airport and head to RPR in the morning after we get some sleep?

I will be traveling with a 5 1/2 year old, but she is a great traveler and since she'll probably sleep the whole flight, the power nap will have her up & going when we land.

IF there is a room available at 1:00a you'll pay for that night. The earliest you can check in, without paying extra, is probably 6-7a.

I'd save the few dollars and book a room near MCO (Priceline) but if booking a room at RPR make sense if you're not on a strict budget.

Lewisc is 100% correct ... as always.

You are flying in late at night on, say, the 16th. You made a resort reservation that begins on the 17th? If that's the case, then the earliest you can check-in on the 17th would be, as Lewisc said, 6 or 7 a.m. If you attempt to check-in at 1:00 a.m. on the 17th, and there is room available, you will be charged rack rate for that night, which you will have to pay immediately. You would then need to check-out of that room by 11 a.m. and check-in for the reservation you previously made.

Well you could avoid the check-out/check-in process by simply adding a night to your disney reservation before arriving. There is absolutely no way you would be allowed to check in at 1am without paying for an additional night.

Personally it's a toss up between the Hyatt at the airport and going directly to your resort. If the cost is not too much greater I would probably head straight to the resort for the ability to wake up in Disney World and not have to deal with the hassle of checking out of the Hyatt then getting to Disney and checking in again.

The OP is staying at RPH for a Universal Vacation. The OP is staying Club Level, as long as he's willing to pay I'd go right to the hotel otherwise I'd PL an airport area hotel.

i usually get in at that time, and i just pay for the extra night, and wake up ready to rock and roll.

Disney is not different from any other hotel company (Universal, Marriott, etc) in this respect. Show up at 1 am and you pay for that night! Switch to the "next day" is not midnight based, generally early in the AM.

Thanks for all the advice.....I just booked my flight and will just add a night to my hotel reservation at Royal Pacific (yes....it's a Universal vaca this go 'round)
