What tags to use for bags when using Magical Express?

We got our packet of info in. No yellow tags though...Are we supposed to use the hard tags that came in the envelope?

Nope, those are souvenirs from the travel company.

You will receive a separate package directly from Magical Express with barcoded yellow tags and instructions on how to proceed after landing.

You can use the hard plastic tags on this trip and also on any future trip to anywhere.

The yellow tags expedite automagical delivery of bags to your Disney resort although if you do not get the yellow tags in time, there are other ways to ensure automagical delivery.

The only restriction is that if you want to claim your bags at Orlando yourself, for example to have your stuff sooner, do not use the yellow cardboard tags.

do not use the yellow cardboard tags.
Just so no one gets confused, DME tags are NOT cardboard. They are stickers, printed on thin yellow glossy paper. They are not thick or rigid like cardboard in any way.

Those magical express things are just like the ones the airport puts on that sends your bag to your destination. It's just these ones are yellow.

When are you going?
If they don't arrive in time, you will have to pick up your own luggage before you check into DME.

That's not correct.

If the yellow, bar-coded DME routing tags don't arrive in time, you can still bypass baggage claim at Orlando International.

When you check in at the DME counter, just provide your airline's baggage receipts and a description of your bags to the DME agent. (You might want to mark them with something that makes then easy to describe, such as brightly colored yarn tied around each handle.) They'll send someone to retrieve your bags at baggage claim and have them transfered to to your room. Meanwhile, you can take a DME motor coach to your resort with only your carry-ons, just as if you had received and used yellow DME tags.

What Horace stated is true, BUT that's only if your luggage tags dont show up for a DME reservation you have made. You CANT just show up at MCO without a DME reservation and just use the service. You must have a DME reservation. So long as you are in their system before your arrival then the info Horace gave is spot on.

so they will come in another envelope? I thought I remembered they all came at once the last time we went?

Your DME packet is completely separate from your other Disney reservation stuff. You will get a DME packet, about 4-5 weeks before your departure day. It will contain a booklet with directions to the DME counter at MCO, your bus vouchers. It will also have two yellow luggage tags per person on the reservation.
You have gotten your resort reservation packet. It is completely different than the DME packet.

If, for some reason, you don't receive those yellow luggage tags before you are ready to leave, you can head right to the DME counter and get checked in. You can give them your baggage claim receipts and a description of the bags you checked (as well as how many bags) and DME will take care of the bags for you. Or, you can get your own bags and bring them to the bus with you.
But...you have to have a reservation with DME beforehand. You can't just walk up to the counter and get on a bus, just because you have a resort reservation. They are two different things. So, be sure that everyone in your party is listed on the reservation for DME, as well as for the resort. Not saying this hasn't been done already...just reminding everyone.

Mmmm....We leave in like 22 days. I guess I will call tomorrow or Monday and ask just in case!

Thanks!

We received our Disney package last night and it had all of our Disney stuff including the ME yellow tags. From what I have read here, I thought that I would receive 2 different packages, but nope just 1! My parents are going also and made their reservations seperately and haven't received anything. Funny how it all works.

Any chance you booked through a travel agent?

Because I've booked 3 trips, 3 different years. In each case, I've gotten 2 separate mailings from two separate return addresses. I received my DME stuff in yesterday's (Friday's) mail, but still haven't received my Walt Disney Travel Company documents.

Yes, we booked through AAA - guess that makes a difference huh?! And our came via UPS.

When you book through a travel agent, Disney sends all paperwork to the agency, and not directly to you. The agency then packages it however it wants and sends it to you however it wants. That explains your single "mailing" via UPS.

Enjoy your trip!!!
