The *NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *SEPT 2008*

I kept asking this same question before our October trip, unfortunately no one answered me and it kind of bugged me....anyways- we had a "garden view" room, and basically it overlooked the walkways and some flower gardens. It was your basic view but nice and quiet. We were in the Tokelau longhouse. I don't know if I would have upgraded (if given the chance) to another view, unless it were say a view towards MK- even in that case, the cost might have far outweighed a potential upgrade decision.
Here's some photos from our balcony- because I knew someone would eventually ask the same question I had before our trip- a picture in each direction....Hope this helps!

THank you so much! This is very helpful - as a first timer to the Poly I had no idea what I'd be getting. Thank you!!

MsStinkerbelle and NY Outlaw -- those are beautiful garden views! Thanks for posting the photos -- it really does help!:)

Only 19 days until our first stay at the Poly :cool1:

I was just looking through our paperwork and I don't find any place on them about the room requests we made. Nothing on the emails or on our final paperwork we recieved last week. This is the first time I've booked the ressie myself, I've always used our AAA TA. Should these requests be on the paperwork or are they listed on our ressie when we check in? I've read that people sometimes call the resort about 3 days before they check in to give their room requests, do I call the resort phone # that is listed on the Disney website or is there a particular # to call? Thanks for any help.

I have called the main number and made the request, and it worked for me.

I usually make my "requests" at time of booking, and then I follow up about a week before we arrive to confirm. :)

Any parents out there among the Poly faithful with comments on the Neverland Club? We are booked for 5/13 -5/20 at the Poly. DD 8yrs old and DS 5 yrs old at time of trip. DH and I would love to have one meal by ourselves for our 15th Anniversary. Do they have some kind of paging system to your cell if your child needs or wants you? Any stories appreciated. :)

I'm a frequent user of the Neverland Club. As a matter of fact, I'm dropping DD9 off there in a few hours. :goodvibes Yes, they will give you a pager that you have to sign for when you check in your kids. You are asked for your cell phone number in case your child wants to talk to you. In all of the times I've used the Neverland Club (about 8+ times) I've never been called on my phone or paged. The kids just have too much fun! And to their credit the CMs handle the kids pretty well and give extra attention to those 'missing' their parents. I will say none of the kids seemed particularly eager to have their parents pick them up. :lmao:

Hope that helps! I'll try to get some more pictures of the Neverland Club this evening.

I want to make some late ADRs at the GF. I would be nice to be able to take a leisurely stroll back after dinner. Especially along the beach.:flower3:

Yippee! Happy Hula Dance! Just paid our deposit for 7 full nights in June, just us, no kids--which they are OK with. And I successfully changed my ticker. So much happiness in one snowy day. And all I see as I look at the snow--and more snow--is the Poly! Aloha!

Hi Poly experts, can you help me with this one? I was planning on requesting the Tahiti longhouse for our Sept 09 trip (Lagoon View room), but I wanted to ask this question about the TTC first - Is it noisy? Should I also request the end of the building furthest away from the TTC? One of the reasons I like the Tahiti building is the distance from the pools and crowds, but I'd rather have the noise of the pool than the noise of buses. Please give me your advice! Thanks!:goodvibes

I requested Tahiti for my trip next month. I've never stayed at Polynesian, but I'm going to take a stab at this question, anyway.

I can't imagine there's any noise pollution from the TTC, from the perspective of a room in Tahiti. You're far enough away from TTC as it is. In addition, the bus area of TTC is the far side of TTC, the side of the TTC farthest from Polynesian.

I'm actually hoping for a room as far to the side of Tahiti (towards TTC) as possible. I just think it'll feel that much more secluded.

I'll definitely post a trip report after I return.

I can't imagine you hearing any noises from the buses. It's proximity to the buses is further away and there is so much lush greenery in between. You will most likely hear the horns from the ferryboat going from the TTC to MK but that is a given being on the lagoon. You may also hear the smaller boats as well but that is part of the "lagoon" sounds of being on the water anyway. Being in Tahiti, you will have the extra privacy you desire because its not flanked by a busy guest walkway and very few people hang out on the Tahiti beach.

First of all, Happy New Year to all of you Poly fans!

We got home Monday from our land/sea trip with four days at the Poly. I'm still working on my trip report, but wanted to let you know our Poly stay was simply amazing! We had club level lagoon view, 3502 and it was picture perfect! Direct view of the castle framed by two palm trees! I am still working on uploading pictures, and as soon as I get it resized I'll post a pic of our view. The weather was perfect, except the 22nd was pretty chilly. Good news, the wait time was less than fast pass for Splash Mountain:rotfl2: I don't think I will ever go anything but club level again. It was fantastic! Thank you to everyone here for your tips, and advice. It was all right on:thumbsup2

We stayed in Tahiti 2013 and 2014, the end away from the TTC. Rooms were very quiet and I am a very light sleeper! I loved the location, building, room size! I think it's a great choice. Although we were on the end away from the TTC, I spent some time outside sitting on the benches enjoying the gardens and never heard busses. My DD 14 thought it was too far from the pool and the refillable mug refills at Capt Cooks. Also, I found the walk to the pool--and bar!--along the beach so gorgeous, so relaxing, so enjoyable. I have requested Tahiti for our next visit. Hope you have an awesome time!

I'm glad you had such an amazing vacation! I'd love more details on your thoughts on staying at the Hawaii building and the club level amenities that you found useful. We're staying at the Poly in April -1st time at Poly & we're staying LVCL, too, so I'd like to know more about it.

I'll be waiting for your picture!:)

We get to stay at the Poly for the 1st time.     We usually stay at SoG (DH is millitary) but decided to splurge wth the 4/3 deal. I have always wanted to stay here. We booked a standard gv room. Without looking thru 100+ pgs, can one of you poly experts give me any advice on your favorite house to request? I think I will probably be happy with whatever they give me upon check-in. We are so excited. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I am wondering the same thing...Good Poly GV room. I've looked at the info on this thread, but there is sooo much! (Which is a good thing) I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to request.
I just want to make sure I have a balcony w/ a decent view. We will be spending a lot of time on it while the baby is asleep at night and napping during the day. Secondly, I'd like to be near the volcano pool. Other than that, not too picky. Would be nice to be near the lounge, but seems like the building there doesn't have balconies...if I understand correctly. Any suggestions anyone? Who has stayed in a GV room that they liked?

The only building with no balconies is Niue, because Niue has no 3rd floor. The other buildings near the Volcano pool have balconies on the 3rd floor.
