The crocs I ordered at such a fabulous discount arrived today from Crocs.com. The box clearly says Crocs...okay I kinda expected that, but the invoice is attached to the outside of the box and the contents are clearly visible..... DH got home first. He's been warned not to open anything that comes but geesh, it says right on the box what it is. I was going to try and blow him off saying I ordered new crocs for work (that's what I wear) but men's size 12...no way to hide that. :(

dick's sporting goods too! i ordered a ball game for my dh- came in the box with the handle-good thing i came home 1st!

I know what you mean. My DD now knows she is getting Aeropostale and the little one knows she is getting crocs because of the packaging. They get off the bus before I am home so even though they didn't open them, they now know what they are getting.

I nearly broke a bone trying to get the vera bradley box from fedex before dd got to him. He must have thought we were insane. I had to hold her back and tear the label off at the same time. :rotfl:

Perhaps in the future you could have packages shipped to you at work or to a neighbor/relative.

I must say, I am a big fan of the companies who only ship in plain brown boxes (I know that Lego, Apple, Amazon, and American Girl all do).

Last week our UPS man brought three packages.... DD was expecting something for me, I was expecting something for her and I could tell as he walked down the driveway that SOMETHING wasn't in plain brown (but hard to tell what).... We made DS (10) meet the man at the door and sign for the packages! He was able to hand DD and I each the appropriate package and we were able to take them and hide them! Otherwise we would have had at least ONE spoiled surprise.

Don't be mad at Crocs.... it is great advertising to have your company name on your boxes. Just crummy that it spoiled your Christmas surprise. Maybe DH has a short memory?? ................................P

Actually, Lego doesn't...well, they ship in a brown box, but the box clearly says Lego, and there's a sticker on the outside of the box that specifically says the model number and name of the set that you ordered!!! I just got one in the mail yesterday that I ordered, and I had to quickly wrap the set and dispose of the carboard. I was not happy about that one.

I always have stuff delivered to me at work to avoid this exact problem.

When my aunt used to order Legos for my cousin, she would send them to our house so he wouldn't find out. We lived about 15 mins away so she would come pick it up and wrap it before he got a chance to see it. :thumbsup2

I ordered DS a very pricey mosaic chess/backgammon board from Damascus. It had the invoice taped to the outside of the box! I thought is was just because it was coming from a foreign country and they had to declare what was in it?

Grrr, the shipping alone cost me $50 and the surprise is blown!

I'm a housewife and DH works for the DoD. It would really raise some eyebrows if he received a package from Syria at work:rotfl:!

My DH works for a company that is locked down - guard gate, electronic entry keys, etc. He can't get deliveries. I'm not sure how he's shopping for me, but somehow he's hiding whatever he got! I think it helps that I get home later than him most of the time, so I think he's able to have stuff shipped to the house and hide it.

And I work from home, so it really wouldn't be convenient for me to have a package sent to work! I'd have to travel to another state to pick it up :)

amazon definitely does NOT always ship in their own boxes, there are plenty of things that come in the manufacturer's box.

Maybe have it delivered to a friends house next time. I ordered DH the Keurig coffee machine from QVC when they had the good deal a couple of weeks ago. I'm a SAHM, so I had it shipped here thinking I could stash it while he was at work. Only problem was that UPS didn't deliver until 6:30 pm! Fortunately it was in a box that just said QVC on it. So, DH is now actually MORE puzzled as to what in the world he could be getting from QVC. (And is also concerned that I'm QVC shopping during the day while he's at work! I've got him WORRIED now and it's really just thanks to my friends on the DIS!)

I ordered something (big Castle toy for DD3) form Disney merchandising after we got home from out last trip. It came in a box labled Walt Disney World and my kids recognized the logo/font writing. And then the DS5 who really can't read yet says, look Mommy it says castle on this side. . .well, maybe he can sound out a few things! ah! fortunately the 3 year old missed all the talk!

leapfrog also has it all over their boxes!
My kids were all exciited that they got something from them. Thankfully I started early (a couple months ago) and they have forgotten about it. :) haha

I love how gmboree doesn't have it on the box.

the box i could have explained to him (I'm a nurse and the only thing I wear at work is Crocs), the invoice taped to the outside of the box not so much :confused3

Yep, my sis ordered BIL a guitar for Christmas from HSN. The box came in...with 4 inch letters GUITAR on the box!

There've been similar posts about other companies recently.

In fairness - do we really expect businesses to alter their shipping / packing procedures, or their boxes, for a few weeks out of the year because the item purchased MAY be a gift for someone in the customer's household who may be exposed to the package before the customer can hide it?

If so, then rather than - or in addition to - complaining here, people should contact the vendors and express their point(s) of view.

When I ordered from American Girl this season, the checkout screen let me know that the company name would be printed on the box, so I had the items delivered to my Mom. She had no idea what they were because the name was no where on the box!! :confused3
