Disney with two broken arms - (Final Day 1/23)

Great update, the girls look so cute! I have to agree with your review of Cinderella's Royal Table... We went in 2007 and I was not impressed. In fact, I believe we had the same exact Cinderella as you did this year, and she was just not very into character, didn't really talk to the kids much, etc. She was the main reason I was disappointed. I'm like you, very glad we did it, just to have been in the castle, but I did not book it for our trip this year, and don't know that I would again. Not for 2 TS credits anyway! So many other options.

Glad to hear you got to have alone time to experience Illuminations! :goodvibes

Oh no!!! It can't be almost done?!!! I loved this report.....you need to drag this out for us!! LOL!!:rotfl:

Those girls of yours are going to be little heart breakers!! They looked beautiful in their dresses for CRT and their hair looked so pretty with the clips...you can tell I'm a Mom of three little boys!! I'm so glad I got to see CRT, even if it wasn't what you hoped for, cause I will never get to see it!!! :lmao:

Can't wait fo the next sllloooowwww update!!:cloud9:

You had me at, "I got back on the bike" :scared1: :thumbsup2 I couldn't believe you finished the bike ride AND the run!!!

Anyway - We had an absolutely dreadful experience at CRT in February 2008. Our waitress was rude, and it just wasn't enjoyable at all. I don't even recall a wish ceremony :confused3

Glad your girls enjoyed it! That is what matters!

You have a beautiful family!

:hippie:

I agree...when you got "back on the bike"...I was done...subscribed and have been along for the "ride" ever since...

Great TR!!!!! :)

Well, we have two trips for sure. December and August. Others are just in discussion right now. ;) I love these pictures. The girls are so cute dressed up! I totally agree with you 110%! CRT is not what it should be. We've been twice and both times were mediocre. So so food, usually lukewarm...servers who could care less (because they know that tip is included) so they rush you like crazy. I do love the atmosphere of the castle but everything else...BLAH!

Very true, the castle has sooo much more potential.

Already?! :sad1:

I LOVE this picture!

I had to giggle at this one! She finally got to see a rope! I bet that made her day.

That picture of the girls is one of my favorites too.

Yes, DD finally got to see the rope.

Your girls look especially adorable in this update. I can't believe the staircase isn't better organized for diners to get to and from their meal:scared1:

Thanks, yep when I pulled out the video camera I was expecting to record our the "royal stairs", instead it documented the anarcy. ;)

I haven't been to CRT since the mid 70's (though it may have been Oct. 1980 - :confused3 ). I don't remember much about it except that it was dark and the kid's drink was something purple that wasn't grape juice - it was nasty. I believe it was called something else back then instead of CRT. I don't remember meeting any characters though.

While I'd like to go again, none of the menus do anything for me and I don't have kids. I glad your kids had a good time though.

Yes, kids usually are easier to please.:goodvibes

The girls look so cute I'm glad dd7 got to see and touch the rope:yay: .

Thanks, Funny huh.:rotfl:

Thanks. Wow that would be a long time for that same Cinderella to hold the same job if so. That's a lot of smiling. :teeth: Both 1900 Park Fare (last year) and Akershus were much better service.

You're so sweet. :goodvibes Well this report did take a lot longer and a lot more work than I ever thought it would. It has been fun though. Our last full day was a very full adventurous day so we're not quite done yet.;)

You had me at, "I got back on the bike" :scared1: :thumbsup2 I couldn't believe you finished the bike ride AND the run!!!

Oh thanks. Good thing I got back on the bike. Thanks for posting. Seems like we're not the only one's who were less than impressed w/ CRT.

I agree...when you got "back on the bike"...I was done...subscribed and have been along for the "ride" ever since...

Great TR!!!!! :)

So glad to know you've been along for the ride.:drive: Thanks for posting.

Whew, I am finally caught up!! Wow, the pictures from your photo shoot are just wonderful. The black and white of your two darling daughters is my favorite. How can you decide to frame just a few? I would have them all plastered around the house!!!

I am glad you got to see IllumiNations, but what a shame you hurt your arms. After that fall on the stairs I think I would have sat down and cried! You are a good sport.

I am so happy your DD7 finally got to touch and see the "rope". Was this a highlight for her or what? I think all of your readers were glad she got to see the real deal!!

It is a shame your time at CRT was not as great as you had anticipated. Your DD's again looked so sweet and it is great that the magic was there for them. We took our DD when she was almost four for dinner at CRT on our first trip. I was like you with the excitment building for months. I actually had a tough time getting and ADR because we booked after the start of the 180 days. After four or five call backs we got in on a cancellation. I nearly cried I was so happy! Anyway, we dinner there and it was wonderful. Our waitress was so great. The song they do with the kids making their wish was another teary moment for me. I asked for a copy of the menu to keep as a souvie and the waitress got me a fresh, clean new one! She was so great. DH was so impressed with her that he tipped her a bit more and she it turn brought us another free souvie to take home. This time it was a glass mug with the CRT sign on it. Just a great time over all. I hope your next visit, if there is one, goes better. Try the dinner. Well worth it.

Now, I can't wait to see and hear the rest....

Suz

Great update!! That's so funny that your youngest wanted a purple car!! Maybe you should buy her a little hotwheels purple car!!

ANd although I think CRT is a great one time experience it is just a one time deal for me.

I found your TR about an hour or so ago and have been reading ever since. What a beautiful family you have! I love your pictures too.

We were there from 9/13 - 9/20 so our trips overlapped a bit. We did CRT as well and had the SAME experience. Our CM was not very CM-like and in fact, 9/17 was our anniversary and apparently she didn't read the card appropriately and instead brought my nephew a cupcake for his birthday which she slung at him. :headache: He was totally confused. :confused3

That said though, I think everyone needs to experience at least one meal at CRT. It's beautiful inside and we'll go back, just not sure when.

We also did the photo shoot at the Poly. Your pictures were wonderful. Ours were so-so, but it was very, very hot and humid the day that we had them done and no one was really "in the mood" for my obsessive planning.

Great trip report. I am so looking forward to the remainder.

Hi! I too just found your TR actually while browsing the dining reviews. Now, for the past 3 hours, I've been reading your TR and have finally all caught up! Wonderful wonderful report! And such beautiful girls! :goodvibes

I love the pictures from BB. I can't believe you had to wait so long for a bus!

I'm glad you got to enjoy some alone time at Illuminations!

Sorry to hear CRT wasn't all you hoped it would be. I have never eaten there but would love to try it someday!

I have NO IDEA how I have managed to not find this trip report until now....but this is GREAT!! Your girls are beautiful and we are really enjoying your pictures.

I'm subscribing, of course!

It's so great to have you! I hadn't seen you on the boards so it's great to know you're still here and planning a return trip too!

Yep, I think we should all try CRT one time just to be able to say we dined in the Castle.

:welcome: Wow, 3 hours. I've been wondering how long it'd take to read my report from start to present. Can't believe it's gotten that long. I'm so honored that you thought it was worth 3 hours of your time.:goodvibes

I'm definitely glad to hear that at least a few have a good experience at CRT. Thanks for the complement on our photos. I still have not printed any. I do need to decide which I want to frame. Glad you're all caught up.:goodvibes

So we left off after breakfast at CRT. DH wanted to check out Monsters, Inc. Laughing Floor. We had never been so we made our way to Tomorrowland. We took this picture of the backside of the castle on the way.
DisneyWorld2008118.jpg

I really hadn’t read much about this attraction so didn’t know what to expect. Here are the girls waiting in line.
DisneyWorld2008119.jpg

The girls were in good spirits during the wait time. They also were really loving each other. It was cute to watch just how much the girls love each other while in WDW. Some of that magic pixie dust I guess. Hee, hee these pictures make me smile.:cloud9:
DisneyWorld2008120.jpg

DisneyWorld2008121.jpg

We really enjoyed the Laughing Floor. It was surprisingly entertaining. DH got nervous when they started spot lighting people so he put DD4 on his lap so that she covered his face. We didn’t get chosen.;)

Right after we left the Laughing floor we headed to Stitch’s Great Escape.
DisneyWorld2008126.jpg

I didn’t know much about this ride except that it didn’t usually get good reviews. DH asked why there was a height restriction and I had no idea. Both girls were tall enough so we went in. When we were seated I wasn’t surprised by the oder as I had read about the stink part of this attraction. DH made me nervous when he pointed out that the room was a circle and that we were bolted in as if in a roller coaster. He thought the room might start spinning. I can handle roller coasters for the most part but I absolutely can not stand spinning in circles, I get very sick. So I got very nervous. Thankfully it didn’t spin, and we agree w/ all reviews I have seen that don’t quite get that attraction. It just gets dark and they make it sound and feel like Stitch is running around the room and jumping on your shoulders. We all were a bit confused by it when we left. :confused3

Next the girls wanted to do Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. We did this earlier in the week but they wanted to do it again. TSM didn’t ruin this ride for them anyway. DD4 just really loves Buzz for some reason.

DisneyWorld2008124.jpg

And of course you can’t leave the gift shop w/o getting this picture.
DisneyWorld2008125.jpg

After having our fun in Tomorrowland we decided it was time to head back to POP for lunch and a nap so that we would be rested for MNSSHP that evening.

First we DH wanted to go see if he could exchange the hat he'd bought earlier in the week. He had decided it was too small. So we went to the store in Adventureland and DH exchanged his hat. On the way out we were on a mission to find frozen lemonade. We asked all around and found this nice photo pass photog. in front of Crystal Palace who took yet some more pictures of us in front of the castle but from a different view.
image305.jpg

image307.jpg

We were told there'd be a cart w/ frozen lemonade on the way out. Unfortunately when we got there we realized it wasn't the kind we were looking for. It was those pre-made lemonades stored in a freezer. We must have been hot because the girls each got one anyway and DH and I got a cold drink. It was also here that we found out we still had 13 snack credits left! (On the regular Dining plan). Boy we certainly weren't doing justice to the snack credit.

We stopped by the strollers to get a refund on our last day stroller ticket. We had pre-purchased our stroller rentals to get the slight discount. We ended up w/ an extra day’s ticket since we went to BB on our free day. We had earlier been told that unused tickets would be refunded. We were surprised when the CM told us it was non-refundable. Each day’s ticket was $27. I also felt a little uncomfotable when my precious DH didn’t move after the CM said no. DH wasn’t confrontational at all, he just did not leave. Sure enough after a while the CM finally decided he could refund us the money. DH said he knew if he stood there long enough the CM would refund the money. Disney for the most part tries to avoid confrontation. Score!

So we head back to POP for lunch.
DisneyWorld2008127-1.jpg

We all ate lunch at POP then headed to our room for a nap. We really did not take many pictures of the resort but I did take this short video as we walked from Classic Hall to our room.

We had not napped the entire trip but I really was hoping everyone would be able to nap and we all did! I think we got a little more than 2 hours before the alarm went off. We had a 5:15 ADR for Ohana before MNSSHP.

Next Up:hourglass : Ohana and Our Costumes!

I'm late to join this party, too! I'm 3 hours into this read and it's been a blast. You have a beautiful family. Your girls are adorable!

I love love love the custom Minnie dresses. Shoot! I'd wear one! The little cogs in my brain are spinning double-time trying to create an interpretation of these little gems that won't look utterly ridiculous on a grown-up girl like me. Where did you find these??? I love 'em. Simply amazing!

Aaaand, I gotta hand it to ya, girl, the fact that you got back on that bike and finished your race speaks volumes. Even tho you really were injured in the end, more power to ya! A lesser person would've just laid there and let the injury dictate the rest of the race. YOu finished what you started. Girl power! WooHoooo!!!

Next, gotta give props to your hubby for taking such great care of you and the girlies not only to get on with life post-injury, but so the trip could go on. Just think of the memories your girls will have someday about the trip when Mom had 2 broken limbs. LOL! I'm sure that promotes you to super-Mom status for life. LOL!

I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of your adventure! Make sure you end with an update on your overall health. Poor you. HOpe the arms healed up well and your recovery was speedy.

Hugs!

No problem! Dbf was so impressed with your story (about getting back on your bike and finishing your run too) that you were the talk over the football games today :rotfl: But seriously, super mom and super DH! I'm sad to see that your TR is ending already, wish I would have caught it sooner! :goodvibes

I loved that you stayed at the water park until closing and that you were able to enjoy the park with little people around. (not "little" people, but you know)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That made me laugh outloud. Hope you write a TR, it would be a riot. :)

I'm planning on it if I can figure how to do the stupid photobucket thing. I'm happy that you will read it. That's my biggest fear is that no one will read it 'cept me! You know, kinda like I'm my biggest fan thing??? I plan on starting it tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have a link. I'll pm you when I figure it out. :thumbsup2

So sorry your experience at CRT wasn't the greatest. Unfortunately it seems like that is the trend.

At first I thought that I might just have lower expectations from most people. We went for dinner at 5:30pm in May 2007, breakfast at 8:05am in September 2007 and dinner again at 5:30pm in May 2008. All of these experiences were excellent. Food, atmosphere, service and CM interaction.

However, when I looked at your 2 videos I would not describe that as a great experience! What a nightmare! We had the staircase pretty much to ourselves on each of the 3 occasions we attended. I don't know how that worked out, but it was nothing like yours. What a negative experience before you even sit down at the table!

Obviously they are not (and likely will not) be hurting for people willing to shell out big bucks to dine in the castle. It is just a shame that it seems the whole experience is suffering from lack of attention and care.
