Looking for $$$ costs - Orlando airport to WDW

We were talking this morning over McDs about the cost of getting from the Orlando airport to WDW (resort doesn't really matter).

We normally take Magical Express and before that we rented a car.

Can you all remember what you paid for cab/car/van/bus transfer (basically anything other than ME) from Orlando airport to your resort the last time you were there?

Thanks.

Jim.

Thanks for the links. There's quite a bit of information there. There's also only a small number of actual cost quotations.

I was more interested in the amount of cash that was actually spent out to get "you and all travelling with you" from the airport to the resort (tip included I suppose), rather than the actual company.

I know that ME is 'free', but I'd like to hear from people who don't take ME for one reason or another.

Jim.

If you post under the Transportation Forum you will get more responses.
The orlandoairport website does quote taxi estimates to WDW locations.

Our TA told us (in a conversation just last week) that a cab from POR to the airport would be about $50 US.

Hope that helps :goodvibes

For a cab you are looking at $50 each way plus tip. A pre booked limo(town car) will cost you between $110 and $120 roundtrip which will include a 30 minute grocery stop.

So, the cost is almost the same. The value of the grocery stop makes the limo much more worth while.

Ok wow the limo with the grocery store stop sounds amazing..

Why do people not like the ME? Is it overcrowded? Do you have long waits?
Pls give me a heads up
TIA

When we went in Spetember we were on our ME bus and on our way in under 30 miutes after getting off the plane..A cab from POP on the way back cost 40 plus tip.

Back before ME, when "Mears" ran shuttles that were exactly like ME... I think a round trip transfer was about $45 USD. There was a discount for booking online in advance. Now, Disney contracted ME out to Mears, just painted the buses, popped in a video, and have the drivers in different uniforms... but it is the same service! For free!

I have no idea why people dis-like the ME. I've used it a few times and had no complaints. Having said that I've had late flights into MCO and early departures. Not exactly peak times. I would use it again without even thinking about it. If you lose any time it might be only about 30-45 mintues and that would be over taking a taxi. If you are renting a car it would take about the same amount of time.....stand in the line to get the car and then walk out to the parking lot to pick it up, then drive to the resort.

I suppose it could be a negative to have a bus load of people all arriving at resort registration all at the same time. However, I've arrived by car and walked in to find 10-20 people in line. That's something you can't control.

I believe we paid $105 round trip including grocery stop for a family of 6 people back in 2005. Then tips on top of that. I think we tipped $10 each way, so close to 20% of total cost.

Totally agree - exact pricing we have found.

Just to clarify TammyLynn it's a towncar not a 'limo' per se - a nice sedan but no stretch...just wanted to make sure there were no misunderstandings :thumbsup2

The last time we used Mears was back in 99 and it was 35 bucks a head each way at that time.

Used mears town car service in August and it was 120 round trip for three people plus gratuity to the BWV.

We love ME and are using it again in less than a month. We have a trip coming up where we are staying at the Dolphin where we got a great rate but it isn't serviced by ME so this is great to know what price we are looking at for transportation. We did get a great rate at the Dolphin but I don't think we'll be staying there again since we can't use ME, can't charge back to the room and can't get the dining plan.
