Has anyone looked at 2010 tickets?

I just chose 4 events at the cheapest seats and my total "may" be $502. Plus I still have to get there!!

I say "may" because they are doing a lottery, so you order your tickets and then you get notified on Dec 5 if you got them or not. I am really hoping that because I did not choose any "big" events and that I went with the cheap seats that I actually get some. I picked some Speed Skating, Curling and Figure Skating.

If I "win" (is it really winning when it costs you $502?) then this will be my mom's Christmas gift (and Birthday Gift and Mother's Day gift). I cannot imagine her surprise on Christmas morning!! My heart pounds with excitement. DH is not interested, so it will be a girls trip. We also have relatives in Vancouver, so we will not have to worry about hotels. And, I suppose we could drive (it is 18 hours, but it would be fun, right?) Oh my fingers are crossed!! I want to give her this so much!!

Anyone else take part inthe "lotto"?

Amy

First:
I really hope you "win" those tickets :goodvibes Sending you prayers/vibes for a successful "bid"!!!

Second:
We're getting the heck out of here while the Olympics are on LOL However, if we'd gotten the Summer Olympics, I'd have to say I'd be in that lottery quicker than you can say womens' gymnastics final! :lmao:

Yup, we put in a "bid" too, for hockey and figure skating (probably the two most popular events), so we'll keep our fingers crossed that hopefully we'll at least get something since we put alternates for each of our first choices as well...

I placed a bid myself for tickets for a couple mixed packages and a couple individual tickets(men's gold medal, and opening cermonies). I hope I get picked.

I punched out the odds for joe public regarding getting selected, and the news is slightly encouraging in some areas, and not so great with others based on the press release

Gold medal hockey men's(18630 tickets * 30% left to joe public: 6.65%(140,000 appplicants)
Opening cermonies(55000 tickets * 30% left to joe public:30%(84000 applicants)

Hey Shawn d - where did you get this information?

I picked the following - based on the fact that I thought they would be less appealing to some and therefore I would have a better chance YKWIM?

  1. Figure Skating - Men's Short Program
  2. Figure Skating - Pairs Short Program
  3. Curling - Women's Qualification
  4. Speed Skating - Men's 1000m Qualification; Men's 5000m Relay Qualification and Ladies 500m Final

I also picked the "cheap" seats, but plan to bring my Nikon D40 with the super zoom lens and binoculars. Curling there was not a choice, they were all the same.

I would LOVE all for, but would settle for 2. If I only got 1, I am not sure it is worth the trip from Saskatchewan?? I am planning to drive as I imagine flights would be ridiculous!!

Found it, and it does not look good for me :worried:

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games ticket requests by the numbers:

- Total value of tickets requested by Canadian residents from October 3
to November 7: $345 million
- Value of tickets requested on November 7 alone: $135 million
- An estimated 120 of 170 sessions will be allocated by lottery
- The Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as all figure skating,
short track speed skating, speed skating and men's ice hockey (from
quarter-finals onward) are among the sessions that will go to lottery

- More than 140,000 tickets were requested for the men's gold medal
hockey game
- More than 41,000 tickets were requested for the women's gold medal
hockey game
- More than 84,000 tickets were requested for the Opening Ceremony
- More than 27,000 tickets were requested for the men's halfpipe
snowboard session
- More than 34,000 tickets were requested for the short track speed
skating session, which includes the men's 500-metre final, the
ladies' 1,000-metre final and the men's 5,000-metre relay final
- More than 10,200 tickets were requested for the men's four-man
bobsleigh final
- More than 19,800 tickets were requested for the men's gold medal
curling

That is 3 out of 4 of my requests :(

Well, its really relative for ticket allocation. I will have a huge horseshoe if I get picked for one of the two indiv tickets, based on the numbers, I have a better chance for the opening cermonies than the hockey. but I am hedging my bets with the mixed pkgs. I just want to see Canada involved. If i can get picked for hockey and Canada is playing and wins the gold medal, that would be a dream come true(albeit from the nosebleed seats:) )

Plus, if we don't get picked , we can pick indiv or packages in the priority. I will be up early to do that, and I think I found Canada's men hockey sched

Anybody hear whether they've been selected yet. Nerves and anxiety are getting to me. I know I should be patient but you would have thought they would send out a e-mail you your tickets are going to a lottery , or you have been selected.only a couple more weeks I guess but it is driving me crazy

I am with you - Dec 5 is forever away!!

I have not heard anything yet myself.

Keep me posted!!

I got this email too. So, we will get an email Dec 10? What is the priority access period? It was all so much simpiler when we would know by Dec 5 :headache:

Yes, make sure you notify VISA about the group taking money starting on Monday (dec 1st). You also have to make sure that you have enough on the card, but we will be notified on the 10th - but not before Priority period starts on the 12th till the 22nd. . Like I said. i am hedging my bets, and I didn't want to go into a crapshoot with a quarterfinal game Canada might not be a part of. I am going to bid for their qualifying pool games if I don't get the gold medal game

I double checked my online profile like the email suggests you do and thank goodness I did. I had accidentally entered 495 instead of 405 in the billing address for the credit card. It is all fixed, but I highly recomend you double check. If your credit card is declined for any reason, they just move on to the next guy.

Anyway, I am still waiting for any word on any of my tickets....

Sorry I didn't answer earlier. The priority access period is the time when those who applied for tickets in the lottery can buy tickets for the remaining packages/single tickets. Basically, we get a 2 month headstart to buy the tickets that everybody else will have to wait until Febuary 2009. I can pretty much guess that a) it will be a mad rush online and the system will crash, and b) by the time the gates open for everybody else in Feb 2009, 99% of tickets will be gone

Here is a full explanation:

Priority Access Period (December 12–22): Any tickets not purchased during the initial Request Period will be re-released for sale exclusively to Canadian residents who submitted a request during the Request Period and is an opportunity to purchase additional tickets before they're again made available to the wider Canadian public. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Confirmation of your purchase will be immediate and payment will be charged at that time.

Phase 2: February 2009
Tickets remaining after Phase 1 will go on sale to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Canadian residents who missed the initial request period can purchase tickets directly through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1-800-TICKETS ( 1-800-8... ).

Paralympic Tickets: May 6, 2009

The Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games run from March 12–21, 2010. Tickets for the 10 days of the X Paralympic Games go on sale May 6, 2009 at vancouver2010.com. Be sure to include Paralympic events when planning your Winter Games experience!

Seat Assignment Period: Summer 2009
Ticket sales will close for a period of time once venue seating configurations have been finalized. Seat locations will then be assigned for all tickets purchased to that point, based on the following:

Tickets purchased during Phase 1 will be assigned seats prior to those purchased in Phase 2, however seat locations will be randomly assigned within each price category by the ticketing system.
Tickets purchased at the same time will be assigned together, and best efforts will be made to seat all tickets in an account together. For example, if you purchased four tickets to a women’s ice hockey session in Phase 1, those four tickets will be seated together. If you then purchased another four tickets to the same event in Phase 2, we will make every effort to seat them with the tickets purchased in Phase 1.

Phase 3: Fall 2009
Ticket sales will re-open once the seat assignment period ends. Tickets purchased from this point forward will automatically be matched with a seat location.

I haven't got the email yet, but my Visa was charged for 2 of the 4 events I chose!!

I know one is curling (because of the price) and now I just have to wait for the other. Oh I am so excited!!

This is for my mom for Christmas and she is going to be thrilled!!

Haven't heard anything yet, but I should have asked when I was making my VISA payment. Dang it. I have a university final tonight so my anxiety is sky high as it is. This is too much

We live 45 mins from Vancouver and plan to be on a DCL cruise and WDW during the Olympics! Schools are shutting down here and I have NO desire to even be here during the Olympics. LOL.

I actually won't start any drama, but we should not even be hosting these - so many things this city needs and spending gazillons on a sporting event is just plain stupid to me......

Ugh, I'm bummed...we got NO tickets. I put in requests for seven events too. I guess I'll be trying to find something Friday morning. I gotta say I'm not too impressed with Vanoc on the lottery thing, we didn't get an email saying that we hadn't been allocated anything I had to go to the site and find it. Would it really have been so hard to send an email? Either way I'm still glad it's coming:) Expo was great for BC and I think this will be even better!!

I got Speed Skating and Curling. Not my first choices but my mom should be happy. I am bummed that one of them was not firgure skating, but oh well.
