TREK bike stolen from Outpost?

Does anyone know if the girls looking for the bike stolen from the Outpost on 11/03 got it back? I could tell they were heartbroken. With everyone from Disney Security to the other campers looking for it, I was hoping there was good news.

We bought bike locks that day. Such a shame it has come to this. What kind of person comes to WDW and does something like that?

I'm sorry to hear about your Trekk. We bought bike locks AFTER my bike was stolen from the Settlement Spring Break 2007.:sad2:

I hope it appears...

This is not the first time we have heard about bikes being taken at FW. I have heard it said that locks keep an honest man honest. Campers as a whole are honest folks, and we would like to think that the Disney 'magic' would prevail and prevent things like this from happening.

Boy, I hate the hear stuff like this happening at the Fort. I have always felt safe and secure at the Fort, but there are a lot of folks who visit the Fort, and, sadly, there are acts of theft and vandalism. We had a little Razor scooter owned by the daughter of some camping friends disappear once, and I have seen some juvenile acts of vandalism, but overall, I feel safer in the Fort than I do out in the real world.

This is a good reminder to bring bike locks. I doubt that there are professional thieves taking peoples bikes. Probably just some knucklehead that didn't think. Even a cheapo bike lock will stop that.

You'd like to think so Tony but I've seen a lot of teenage kids around the fort who aren't supervised at all. Just like in any neighborhood they're out there so it's best to just lock it up.

Sometimes I think the unsupervised adults are a bigger problem :lmao:

Oh man, this is the first I've heard of a problem like this at the FW. :(

What is this world coming too!!

In the past, whenever someone asks for opinions re. locking bikes at FW, I have always advised them to lock up. I have always been surprised at the number of people who respond that they don't lock up and have never had a problem, implying the person should not bother locking up. WDW and FW are no different than any other place in america - there is a cross section of the population visiting, so you get the good, the bad and the ugly. Some of us are good and ugly. I guess that leaves the bad.

i am thinking it was probably an older teen or adult since they would be old enough to recognize Trek is a higher end bike. My son has two Specialized bikes that cost more than some peoples cars. We don't take those to the fort though, we take our cheaper Mongoose bikes but now i am thinking we better even lock those up. funny how the rentals are never stolen!

Disney is open to the WHOLE world,,even the undesireable,,LOCK UP YOUR STUFF !!!

Not to mention Disney will let ANYONE into the campground,,even business' such as Power Washers,,any of these people coming and going, business or otherwise, can grab things on their way out, etc.

I agree with the others LOCK IT UP, bikes, golf carts, campers, cars, if you like it keep it safe.

I even locked up my wife once last trip when she didn't have the Wonder Beagle to watch over her.

Scott has gotten me concerned about the unsupervised adults like Steve running amok at FW. I am right now searching for some of those harnesses you see parents put on their kids with the leashes attached in larger, adult sizes (in some cases, VERY large adult sizes) so that I may control some of these problem adults. I plan on buying in bulk. If you are married to one of these adults, please PM me with their size so that I will have the appropriate sizes in stock.

I believe they call that a straight jacket. :rotfl2:
