Thank you, I just e-mailed him your list, I am sure it will help him. He called the Dining Number and they were not helpful, so he called me and asked me to post it on the Dis. Dis is the best!!!

You can add Narcoossees at GF as well. We get food at the bar there all the time...

And the actual "bar" at Flying Fish as well as the chefs counter. We ate at the bar last trip.

I knew it! Those rats!!! Last year when we wanted to have drinks and apps at the FF bar (not chef's counter) they turned us away at the podium and told us they did not allow that!!! They told us that we would have to go inside to the BelleVue Lounge. I was like, so you'll send me up a plate of calamari?

And may I note, the place was more than 1/2 empty so it wasn't like they were holding spots at the bar for those waiting for a table!

And to add, you can also eat at the bar at Fulton's, House of Blues, Bongo's, Wolfgang Puck T-Rex (I've heard) and Rainforest. You used to be able to at Portobello Yacht Club as well, but I'm not sure what it's like now that they have re-done it (or if it's even open yet!)

luvpooh: Who knows why they would have told you that?? Trip before last we ate at the Chefs Counter (and liked it) but noticed people eating at the bar as well.
So that's what we requested this last trip and no problem. Actually preferred the bar since the bartender is also the server--right in front of you at all times!!!

Also add to that the ESPN Club. Every time I am at WDW, I always try to get at least 1 dinner at ESPN Club. I also do this at eSPN Club's sister place, The ESPN Zone in Times Square, NYC.

My son asked me to post this, he appreciates all your quick responses.........

Mom.
Please post.

To all those that provided my mom the info,
Thank you very much for the information on places to eat at a bar. It is a little awkward sitting at a table by yourself so the bar works well until my girlfriend arrives later in the week. Last night, I had dinner at the Chef's Counter at Jiko's and it was fabulous. I had Ostrich medallions over creamed sweet potatoes with a pomegranate sauce which was very good but the Ostrich was not quite as tender as I expected. They should have served it with a steak knife. It did however taste wonderful. I then had the Cucumber and Tomato Salad, which I wasn't planning on having. But while talking to the Prep chefs and two members of the wait staff they all unanimously recommended the salad so I tried it and they were absolutely correct. I would recommend it to anyone going to Jiko's in the future. The dressing on the salad was made from Cottage Cheese and Watermelon which complemented each other well. For an entree I had Short Ribs with a Coffee Sauce over mashed potatoes. The potatoes had an interesting twist of being both sweet and regular potatoes mashed with artichokes. The entree was very good. The meat on the short rib (They must have been cooked for about 8 hours) basically fell off the bone. They should have served the short ribs with a butter knife and the ostrich with a steak knife. Desert was the Chocolate cheese cake with a lavender{?} ice cream which was slightly tangy and a great off set to the sweetness of the chocolate in the cheese cake. All in all it was a great dinner. Thanks again for all the information on places to get a good meal. I'm off to the California Grill for dinner.

Best,
Joe

And thanks to Joe for bringing up this question! I was going to ask a similar question because I just found out that my son and daughter-in-law will be at WDW for a conference next month the same time that we'll be there. Since this was just arranged they don't have any ADRs (which we do) and I was going to ask for recommendations of bars or lounges where we could meet them for a cocktail and they could possibly get something to eat. So...I really appreciate this information!
