T-REX Restaurant

It's like Rain Forest but with dinos. The food was not that great ( but everyones taste is different). For my family it was a one time thing to check it out.

We ate there twice. There certainly are many similarities to rainforest but our experience was that the food was much better, esp the Tortellini. The Rotisserie Chicken was also quite good. All 3 of us agreed the food was much better.

My DW and I ate there 10-31-2008. We went for an early dinner and to see the son of a friend. The son works there on the wait staff. He recomended the crusted, parmesian shrimp. I found it very tastey. My wife enjoyed her pasta dish. The atmosphere was loud, the dinosaurs make noises. There is a simulated meteor shower every 15 or 20 minutes.
For those with little ones, they have a build-a-bear room that features little dinos instead of bears. This place will be a money maker.

We went there the 3rd day it opened. Our service was crummy, at best. I took us almost 1.5 hours from being seated to finishing our food (appx 45 min for our burgers, we did not order appetizers!) Once was enough, great theming, but we ate in the glacier (blue) room and it was very loud!!!

As this is not a DVC specific thread, I'm moving it to the Restaurants Board.

It's going to depend on the kids. We have had several reports from parents whose toddlers were frightened - the place was too dark and too loud.

That T Rex just in the entryway was pretty fierce, esp when he roared and moved around! We looked around but did not dine so I'm not sure what the dinos instead looked like.

Can you get ADR's here, or is it walk-in basis? My DS9 would LOVE this place and I'm thinking of adding it to the list.

No reservations until next year. And then you won't be able to make them through Disney but will need to call the restaurant directly.

We ate there this past friday Nov 7th. We thought the food was much better than Rainforest. The bruschetta was really good, my pasta i think it was called the triassic tortellini was great. My mom wasn't thrilled with her chicken it wasn't bad just so so. The dessert was fantastic!!! We got the chocolate extinction. Not only is it delicious but the way it comes out is great. It's huge though definitely waaaaaay too much for two people. We weren't aware of that before we ordered it. Our food was very fast we didn't wait at all but we were there around 3 pm. We were seated in the Sequoia Room. We didn't find it to be dark except when the meteor shower comes. The dinos are quite loud still. They could be toned down a bit.

Supersaurus sampler: Bruschetta on top, onion rings and chicken quesadillas in the middle, and spinach and pepper jack queso with chips on the bottom.

Don't know if it's just what you all ordered - but I see way too many peas in the sauces.... just an observation. (I'm not crazy about peas)

We had lunch there yesterday and it was fun. Arrived around 10:45, no wait list, just get in line and they begin to seat at 11. We were seated in the ice room, in and out in about an hour and fifteen minutes. DH came down with a really nasty stomach bug, so he had the french onion soup, he said it wa good. Younger DD had the pasta with marinara, she enjoyed it. DD13 and I (along with DD11) shared the boneyard buffet, ribs and rotisserie chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans. A ton of food, half rack of ribs and half of a tasty rotisserie chicken. ALl three of us left food on the plate. The girls had the icees in the bone glass, sodas for DH and I, tab was $60 without the tip. THe food seemed tastier than RFC to us though, so we'll probably be back.

I don't have T Rex down as a place to eat on our Oct 2009 trip, but I would like to go in for an appetizer or desert for a snack so we could check the place out. My ds's really enjoyed Rainforest Cafe, so this place would probably be a hit!

O.M.G. That chocolate dessert is ginormous! I'll be ordering that when we go in January, for sure! yum!

I am thinking of surprising ds by going here in January for his b day--- however, he is beyond picky- and one menu I saw, it didn't look like there were chicken tenders.... can anyone confirm this? or check if are going and PM me??
thanks SO SO much...
going there would work out really well-- mid afternoon lunch after a AM at DHS and then return to DHS for one of the 2 Fantasmic shows of the week (park closes at 7pm)
