General Resort Question

DH and I go to Disney fairly regularly (by which I mean, once a year or so, which is too much for him and not enough for me)...we were just there a couple weeks ago, and we're going again on the 4/3 deal with my family in June.

however, we decided in March to go down for 4 days for the Princess Half Marathon, stay at the Allstars to save money, and not buy park tickets - because we're seeing the parks enough other times. So we're going to spend time hanging around at the resorts (when we're not running) and enjoy some of the things we never have time to do otherwise.

I'd like this plan more if we were staying at a hotel with more adult activities (like when we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we were almost never there and we could have spent the whole week just sitting on our balcony!) so I guess we're spending most of our 4 days resort hopping and seeing what there is to see.

Anyone have any suggestions of things they love to do at any of the non-park locations on Disney property? (We won't have a car with us, but are extremely knowledgeable in getting around by Disney transport)

I'm sure there are lots of threads about this, and I already have lots of ideas on my own - I'm just looking for some other people's opinions of things they have/have not enjoyed. (It's two adults, FYI - no kids)

go to the community hall at the DVC resorts - especially SSr or BWV - and ask to see their calenders.

they have painting - several things too many to list

flower arranging

do the tours at WL, AKL, YC/BC

I love resort hopping.

I like the bar at the Poly near the pool. Olivia's at Old Key West, walking around the Yacht and Beach clubs, enjoying the live music at the Grand.

Also, the boat ride from the Studios to Epcot is quite enjoyable. It stops at three places as well on the way.

You can take the Monorail to MK and Epcot, then take the express Monorail, and then do the resort Monorail. It is fun and there are things to see at each resort.

For the March stay it might be cheaper to do the 4/7 if you can since you already are paying for 4 days. You will get the 200 gift card and you can just purchase a 1 day pass if you like. You will end up with an extra 40 or so plus a day in the parks or keep it for future use and upgrade then.

I just wanted to say good luck with the Princes 1/2 marathon. You should check out the threads on the WISH boards. If you're training for the race, you might get some support from some other Disney fans training to run. I'm thinking of bringing my DDs, DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess:, down to run the 5k. If they get the training in that is ;) .

We always stay at POFQ, and the boat ride to DTD from POFQ is very nice. They also offer carriage rides in the evening.

You could also do the Segway tour at Fort Wilderness or you could rent water vehicles at several locations.
