T-Rex Cafe Check-In "Process"

I am going to try to take Max to T-Rex Cafe on our arrival night. I just want to find out about the waiting for a table part of the equation. Is it true that you must wait in a long line to get in? Is there any kind of check in, get a pager, cruise around the area to pass the time until your table is ready or almost ready kind of deal??? I think we'll both have a good time checking the place out, but I'm not sure my son will have a whole lot of patience waiting in line for dinner after a whole day of travel...

Can anyone tell me of their recent experiences???

BTW - this will be for dinner... there is no way we'll even touch the ground at MCO before 4pm, so it'll be at least 7ish at the earliest for dinner on Saturday, December 13th. (I haven't made my flight reservations yet, so I don't know exactly what time we'll arrive.)

I don't know if they give a pager or not when you check in but you can always sit at the bar and eat if there is room. DD12 and I did this instead of waiting in line.

I am interested, too. We bought the membership to Rainforest Cafe. Actually, we have THREE dang memberships now - long story short, we paid for additional memberships when the cards were mistakenly left behind. The membership includes all restaurants owned by Landry's, I believe. So, will this apply to the T Rex location? Membership was $15.00 and with it you get a free appetizer or a discount off two entrees... but the kicker is that you get preferred seating. This is not location but timing... I think they promise you seating in 15 minutes of arrival. For us, the wait time saved is worth the expense... the bonus of a free appetizer/discount is great, too. Anyone know if the membership includes T Rex? Or can you clarify the cost if I am incorrect, please?

Hi we were there last night the 8th of nov around 8:00 pm.

We got a wait time of 45 min or so we walked around the gift shop & the Build A dinosaur thing.

You can hear them call your name in the gift shop or outside the building as long as your not to far away ;)

We got called on about 9:10 and only waited in line about 5 min more to be seated :thumbsup2

The food is in my words like the stuff you get at rainforest
My wife and daughter got the Bronto Burger.

I myself got the Stegosaurus Steak and Cheese Sandwich with a Jurassic Salad and we for dessert the Chocolate Extinction :cool1:

All in all the service was great never had a empty glass or short anything.
The total bill with tip was around $108.00 or so.

I know when we walked to our table we went into the Ice room all blue and wild lights. And I know myself could not have eaten in there the blue was just to much color lol.

Ron.

I don't beleive that they are accepting the Safari Club discount or offering priority seating with it at the T-Rex restaurant. That isn't to say they never will, just at this time they are not. They have no need to do so since they are new and they are the place that everyone wants to go to.

1) You must be within earshot of the host/hostess.
. . . no beepers
. . . no ressie papers
. . . no priority if you don't listen and miss your name being called
2) At this time, Safari Club not honored
. . . other T-Rex does not accept Safari Club
. . . no announcements for future acceptance at WDW T-Rex

Good to know... I thought I had read at least one post about having to stand in line for a table and I just thought that sounded a bit torturous, especially for kids!!!

We ate there on Thursday, October 30th. We went early hoping to get a table. We got there around 6pm and DH only stood in line about 2 minutes to give in our name and find out how long. We were told it was only a 25 minute wait. They give you a piece of paper with a number on it and tell you you can walk around the gift shop and restaurant but to make sure that if you wander off to be back in about 20 minutes because they will be calling your name. We sat at the bar and had a drink and with the noise, it's hard to hear your name being called clearly, you can hear it better outside where there are plenty of places to sit around the restuarant while you're waiting. Our name was called in exactly 20 minutes and when we went up to the podium we were sent to another line but only waited about 3 minutes before giving in our piece of paper and being seated at a table in the Ice Cave Room. It was a great experience. Restuarant is LOUD but the food and service were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised since they were only open about 2 weeks at that point.

Enjoy if you do go!
