What dates are you planning?
We are too late for 2008 now so ours is going to be sometime in the New Year (I hope), January or February hopefully

Our volunteers came yesterday!!!

Becca was so excited, she almost talked their legs off for the 3 hours that they spent with us.

Becca leads quite a sheltered life, she does not go to school, we are very rural and consequently friends are very few and far between. You would think that would make her shy wouldn't you? Not on your life!!
It makes her desperate!! She never stops talking

Pam, one of our volunteers told us that usually she manages to get her paperwork done in half the time it took her at our house, Pam wasn't complaining though she said she'd enjoy the visit tremendously.

They arrived armed with donuts and a gift card for Wal-Mart. She felt that because Rebecca is 12 years old she wouldn't be able to pick out suitable gifts for her and thought it better if Becca chose her own. She is a wise woman.....

Lots of talking happened, we put forward our dates - 2nd half of January/February/March in that order of preference. We went around and around with the dates before submitting them to Pam but David and I eventually finished up with the order that they come in. David has several constaints at work that he has to work around and if it wasnt for those we would have had a preference for any time in February.

They asked Becca her Wish and of course she said Disney and that she want to meet Mike from Monsters Inc.

They had a job trying to get a fall-back wish out of her, you see the thought of not having her wish granted for Disney is inconceivable to her.
She eventually settled on one of those Outdoor playhouses that look like miniature log cabins with the porch and swing attached. She said that it would need air-con in it though or else she wouldn't be able to go in it in the summer time...LOL

We have been told that we will be told next week if Becca has been granted her Disney wish and it could be as early as next week that we find out what are dates are.

One disappointment of yesterday.....We FORGOT TO TAKE PHOTO'S!!!!!!!

We went shopping last night with Becca's Wal-Mart gift card from her MAW visitors.
I was gonna make her save it for a while but I think our volunteers wanted her to spend it with the freedom it was given so we went and shopped.

It took her a long time to decide on what she wanted but eventually she found this:

It actually looks quite good. Instead of just the faces to guess you can choose from monsters, silly faces and animals.

Becca's hair is the bane of our lives at the moment.
She cant decide on her fringe (bangs) and whether she wants to keep the fringe or not. If it is there she keeps brushing it to one side and when she grew it out she wanted it back. After she got the fringe back she wished she had never had it cut in.
At the moment it is at that in between stage and is irritating her because it keeps on flopping in her eyes, she keeps saying she wants it cut but when I appear with the scissors she back tracks and says maybe she will persevere for a little longer

Somehow I missed your earlier post about meeting the Wish granters, but that is so awesome!!!!! And no, we won't stone you. I really hope she gets Disney too, but I think her chances are probably very good! I guess Holywood Studios will be one of your must-do parks then to meet Mike. Keep us updated!!

Haven't been able to read the entire thread, have to stop here. I will finish up tonight. I just wanted to say hugs to your family. I hope the meds for the migranes work, at least a bit. I have had them all my life and they just aren't fun. How wonderful about the Wish trip and the Big Give, well that is just icing on the cake. Those ladies (and gentlemen) make the most wonderful stuff. I found you through Maroo's trip report about Lauren.

Welcome to my Pre-trip report, lovely to have you on board for the ride.

I think it is exceptional what the Big Give does for Wish Kids and their families, it is like some kind of Magic that has suddenly come into Becca's life - Ours too.
Maroo's TR is brilliant, poignant yet hilarious at the same time, i really look forward to reading it, i will be sad when it is over though.
