What time of year do you prefer to visit WDW?

My dh and I were about to book our next trip to WDW for next October, however, we started talking about visiting at a different time of year since we ALWAYS go in the fall.

What time of year do you prefer to visit the World and why?

We went once in December was that ever busy! And once in early March. March was not very busy at all, but the weather was really not that great =/ I don't know if we were just unlucky but lotsa rain at that time.

September - December is the only time we go for two reasons.

1) The business I'm in only allows me time off late in the year.

2) It's cold where we live in the winter months so we like to warm up in Florida.

There are pros and cons to visiting at most times of the year. My real favorite is spring, but it is almost the most expensive time of year and tends to be quite crowded. Summer to me is the worst time of year: hot, crowded, and not especially inexpesive, plus there are those pesky storms.

Fall is nice; good weather, low crowds, and reasonable room rates.

Winter has low crowds, but the temps are too cold for me. I want to be able to swim for one thing. The parks just aren't (much) fun in a parka.

Christmas week is not a time I'd want to be at WDW. Too cold, too crowded, and I just don't want to mix Mickey and Christmas too much. Christmas is fun already. Going shortly before Christmas can be fun...but you run a risk even as early as October of getting cool nights.

We go in the fall every year also. Anywhere from end of September to end of October (Halloween and F&W fest). It just goes with work schedule. We have been to Disney a couple times other than our normal and Christmas is the best. If I was going a different time I would choose just after thanksgiving anywhere from Nov 30 thru Dec 14 . Christmas decorations up and the crowds are down. too crowed during the holidays.

We are in a cold area. to us Florida it is warm in December. I would be the person you see in shorts and a tee shirt when everyone has jackets on.

We have always had good luck with early October. Watch for Free Dining from late August to end of September. Not that I've been there, but I here just after New Year is a quiet time of year, as quiet as Disney can be, anyway!

We have fallen in love with the first two weeks of September (although next year it will be closer to the end of September) with the free dining. We don't mind the heat/humidity (when you come from Chicago you take all the heat you can because we have really long winters) and the crowds have never been a problem at that time of year for us. We hope to one trip soon go in December but that won't happen until our youngest son stops wrestling in college. We've done July (too crowded), October (a little too cool for me--I am a flower as my DH likes to say...if it's not 80 I'm cold) and we've done April (not bad...but more crowded that September).

That is my sentiment exactly! My husband keeps asking if I would rather go at Christmas time, however, I am really happy with going early October to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP!

I like Jan. or Feb. Cold here and fairly warm there.
We've gone 3 times in Feb., all 3 trips it has snowed the night before we were leaving. When I was making plans for 09, my boss said I'll approve Jan. but not Feb. Like I can control the weather.

There is not really anything scary at Disney Halloween party.

I agree with previous poster. MNSSHP is great with minimal haunts--excellent for kids. No one to jump out at you or grab you in a crowd. Love it!! I had to take the advertisement for Universal Horror Night off my Dis page--it really creeped me out.

After having visited WDW in June for a few years, we tried the week after Thanksgiving in 1999 and from then on, we are hooked on that time of year. We absolutely love the holiday decorations, low crowds, and beautiful weather. I can't imagine not going then!!

My favorite times are Spring (usually around Easter) and December (we usually stay for Christmas day). Even though the parks are usually crowded during Christmas, it is very beautiful and I think it makes Christmas day even more magical. It is really exciting to wait for the Magic Kingdom to open at 7 in the morning on Christmas day. Spring is also nice to visit, although it can be crowded at times. The weather can also be unpredicable, but usually it is nice. I find that even though the parks can be crowded during these times, as long as you get up and go to the parks early, the wait times for rides are extremely short.
