WL Boat to Contemporary?

Many wonderful posters have told me there is a boat from WL to MK and one from WL to FW. Is there also one that goes just to the Contemporary? How would I get there if I needed to, for Chef Mickeys? Thanks!

The blue flag launches go on a route that includes the Contemporary, the Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness. Always as the Captain where he's headed next, so you can be aware of how long it might take. The next stop might be the Contemporary, or it might be Fort Wilderness.

Make sure to allow plenty of time! If you hit it just right, it might take a total of 15 minutes to get to the Contemporary. If you don't, you might have to wait 30 minutes or more for a launch to arrive.

By land, getting to the Contemporary from WL is a very short trip. A cab can take you there very quickly. If there's a bus going to MK, you can go there and then take a 5-minute walk to the Contemporary. Same for the boats to MK, but they of course take longer to travel the distance.

Keep your options open, and be aware of the multiple paths. That's the beauty of staying at WL. :goodvibes:

We just did this. If you pick the boat up at WL it then goes to FW and then to the Contemp. We waited a bit for the boat, asked the captain when it arrived how long the ride was, he said 15 minutes to get to Contemp..it was more like a 20-30 minutes.

You could also take a cab from WL to Contemp..much faster and cost is minimum. Needless to say, we took a cab back to WL that evening from Contemp.

I just had this experience trying to get to our ADR for the Cali Grill at the Contemp.

We had a 7:30pm ADR so I thought that getting to the WL boat dock by 6:40 would leave us enough time. Well as we were walking up to the dock the boat was just pulling away. The next boat took about 20 minutes to show up. Since at that time of the day the boat goes to FW before CR we didn't get off the boat at the CR dock until 7:30. So the ride on the boat with loading and unloding time was about 30 minutes. We were 5 minutes late for our ADR...no big deal....

It all depends how lucky you are a lot of times taking WDW transportation. If we were at the WL boat dock 2 minutes earlier we would have caught that boat we missed and been 15 or 20 minutes early.

This is great information! I had no idea the boat had potential to take so long!

Is it quicker to take the boat/bus to MK and monorail to the Contemp? We have ressies at Chef Mickey's.

I would take the boat from the Wilderness Lodge which goes right to the Contemporary.

If it is a breakfast ADR then yes the boat will go to CR after the WL. If you are heading from WL to CR after 3pm the boat will stop at FW before is goes to CR. Before 3pm WL, CR, FW, WL after 3pm WL, FW, CR, WL.

The boats are a nice way to get around Bay Lake. As for wich would be fatser:confused3 , that will really depend on connections, if you get to the dock and the boat is waiting for you, then that would be quick, if you have to wait.....If you get to the bus depot and the bus to MK is there and you can walk pretty quick then that would be fastest. Going from the MK bus depot to CR walking is really best, the walk from the bus stop to the monorail is almost as long but in the wrong direction, plus you have to wait for the monorail.
