What types of channels are available on the TV in the resorts? Is it all dis all the time or do we get normal cable channels as well?

Not a lot of choice, mostly Disney channels, but you do get the usual "free" cable channels like NBC,CBS,ABC, Fox...also had the Weather channel, CNBC I think. No movie channels, except Disney stuff.

Guess they figure you'll be off in the parks or golfing...:cool1:

From my past resort experiences it is mostly Disney owned channel, ABC, ABC family ESPN, Disney channel, NBC ,CBS CNN. Not fox news or food channel because I only watch them and they didn't have those channels.

Not many, they don't want you to sit in your room watching tv. Now get out there!

You get the three networks and Fox, ABC Family, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Channel, a handful of ESPN, some local independent channels, a handful of news channels (CNN, HLN, MSNBC, ABC News Now, etc.), the Weather Channel, a couple religious channels, some foreign language channels (Spanish, German, Japanese), the Disney channels, and a couple WDW info channels - one resort wide, and then depending on your resort, you may have one that is resort specific as well as one tailored to conventioneers, plus the "Stacy" channel, DVC channel, "your future vacation" channel, and if you're lucky, channel 96 with the cartoon loop. I'm sure there's something I've missed, but that's close. They repeat the network stations farther up the channel list with closed captioning, so you will see some stations twice.

It sounds like a lot, but it can be hard to find something interesting to watch.

Not a whole lot of channels to choose from. But I think I am spoiled because we have satellite tv and have alot of channels to choose from at home. They don't want you spending much time in your room watching tv. They want you out in the parks, attractions, restaurants, and shops, spending money. We take our portable dvd player and some dvd's with us, for times when we are in the room and can't find anything on tv we want to watch, which is usually just during the late evening/night time.

It's mainly Disney with a few "local" channels along with ESPN, CNN, the resort channel, the convention channel along with some of the same only with closed captioning and then several international lang channels. We too have brought our DVD player and DVDs for us to watch when kids were napping or late evening because after our first trip we realized that there really was not much on TV that we care to watch. Hope this helps.

Here are the channels. They use to have a channel that showed old Disney classic cartoons but its gone now.

I usually watch the food channel before bed, well that didn't happen as Disney doesn't have it. But, on the other hand, once I got into bed, I was asleep before my head hit the pillow:)

They use to have a channel that showed old Disney classic cartoons but its gone now.

It was on our TV at BCV last week. Some CMs at some other resorts have said that you can't get it in the rooms any more, but I wonder if its simply not programmed on the TVs.

A few people have said its channel 96 - I think it was on 94 though.

They had it at the Contemporary and Polynesian on chanel 96. Also even though it's not listed I think channel 41 or somewhere around there is the Golf Channel and channel 98 is some 24 hour weather information station for all of Central Florida, so it's completely different then The Weather Channel.

Cool maybe they brought it back, loved watching the old shorts while getting ready in the morning.

Disney has the crappiest tv selection! At night, we like to order room service or have a drink and order movies if there aren't any good ones on TV. We're able to do this at the Universal hotels or anywhere else we go but not WDW.
I know they want you in the parks but sometimes I don't want to be in the parks. We bring our own movies.
