I have not even got to my Nov. vacation with family and am already contemplating a solo trip sometime next year or the year after. I never stayed at a value resort but would like to keep the price Waaay down on this possible trip. I feel kind of guilty thinking about spending for a vacation just for myself so I want to stay at a value and try to get free dining. I am 47 and again would be by myself. I will be going at an off time so crowds would be lower. Any suggestions which hotel? I love children and have an adult son myself but would like the least noisy and more adultish hotel of them all (if there is one). Any suggestions? Or a nice disney friendly hotel with transportation? Can you get free dining with them?

You will do fine at POP. DH and I have stayed there twice. Each time we were put in a room that was away from the busy areas and quiet. I felt they did that because we had no kids with us. We never felt the least out of place. I haven't stayed at ASMu but from what I have read that may be a good choice for adults as well.
We have stayed off site as often as we have stayed on. I would never stay off site without a car. You don't want to be at the mercy of non Disney buses. Free dining only applies to Disney resorts.

I took my 1st solo trip in May & stayed at PC, I had a wonderful time! I requested 60's building lakeside, 1st floor & was very pleased that I got just that. It was very quiet & sitting by the lake in the morning or evening was very relaxing.
I am hoping to plan another solo trip in May again!

I vote Pop! Stayed there this Feb solo and loved it .I was in the 50's Lakeside it was a bit far out but not terrible .The room was quiet and I loved being able to sit by the lake in the morning !!
Someday I would love to take a solo trip. Not that I don't enjoy going with my family I think it would be just a totally different experience. When I do I probably would stay at a value resort. I don't think I would feel guilty spending all of that money if I stayed at a moderate or deluxe. Maybe it depends what type of trip are you taking. If it is a commando solo trip then I think I would question the wisdom in spending that kind of money on a room. How much space does one person need if you are never going to be in the room? Transportation wouldn't be an issue because I would only have me to worry about. However, if the trip was meant to be a relaxing chill out type of trip of sitting by the pool and going to the parks when you want then I can see spending the extra money. In any case, I would probably do a value just for myself.
i vote for POP. i just stayed there for the 1st time and the kids and i really liked it. for a family i felt the rooms were small but for a solo they are perfect. in fact i just decided to go in 3 weeks solo and booked at POP.

I may not be the best to answer this, as I've only stayed at ASsp (4x) and Coronado Srings (1x); but the the value resorts give me everything I need - a clean room, comfortable bed and a shower. I guess if your focus is on the parks and restaurants a value is the way to go if as you say $ is a prime concern. I like nice amenities, but at WDW we (myself, DW & DS) found the room small but sufficient. For a single traveler looking to save a few dollars, who is focused on the things outside of the room, the values can't be beat.

I have stayed solo multiple times at all of the Values. Well, only once at Movies, but multiples times at the other three.
My favorite has always been ASMU, Broadway section (Bldg 8 or 9). It's not terribly close to Melody Hall, but that doesn't bother me since I always have a car. It is close to the parking lot, and it's isolated from the pools and other noisy areas. A room in Broadway can be the quietest, most peaceful room at any of the Values.
I know you want to keep the budget low, but if you're going in the off-season (such as September, when they offer free dining and have very low crowds), you can get a rental car much cheaper than other times of the year. A rental car can be of great benefit during the off-seasons, as it cuts your travel times substantially; this is important because the off-seasons like September have shorter park hours, and the bus coverage is thinner because of lower crowds. Consider spending an extra $150 to save you hours upon hours of waiting for buses, and allow you to go off-site for dining, shopping, and entertainment in the evenings after the parks close early.

I were to go solo, I would either go to POP or AsMu. I have heard that AsMu is the quietest of the All Stars. We were at POP for free dining at the end of August last year, and I would go back there solo in a second. The food at the food court was great, the pools were great, and the buses were good too.

I like ASMovies because of the Disney movies theme and prefer the layout. As for an adult solo trip goes I don't think there is a real advantages or disadvantages from one value resort to another.
If you can financially do it, I'd recommend going to a moderate, they are all very nice and much more adult themed. I've stayed at CSR and CBR and really like them both. They are quite spread out though. POFQ is much smaller and all the buildings are within short walks to anything at the resort.

I totally would suggest the AS Music. I feel it is the most adult oriented, as the younger kids relate to the large icons of their favorite movie characters and the AS Sports really pulls in the Pop Warner teams and cheer squads.
Don't get me wrong, the AS Music can have the large groups there too, just seems more prominant at the Sports.
I always ask for the Broadway or Country section in AS Music as these are off the beaten track. I love the walk to the food court, consider it exercise.
Do not feel guilty about going solo, I would bet you deserve it.
The rooms are plenty large enough, one bed to sleep, the other to just sprawl your stuff out on.

I stayed at POP for my 40th birthday. This was my first solo trip. I really enjoy it. I had a short walk to everything. Always felt safe. Went during an off season, but still lots of people walking around. I would definitely recommend POP. The food court is really good too. I was like a little kid with my frozen cokes. Love those.

I've done multiple solo trips in the past three years, staying at both moderate & value resorts. While I loved CSR, I usually opt for Pop Century. I usually go during Spring Training in March, so the $$ I save on the value room, I use to buy the dining plan. Even when I've been there during free dining, I've still opted for Pop. It's such a fun place & I have never felt uneasy or unsafe.
Wherever you choose, enoy! I'd rather go solo, that way I can go at my pace & do what I want!

Thank you all so much for your reply's!!! All the suggestions sound great. And now I do not feel so guilty! I have been saying for YEARS (only to myself though) how I have wanted to go on my own either to WDW or a nice beach resort and I have not done either! I am going to try to really make it happen this time! Thanks again!

I go solo to WDW *all* the time. And I always stay at the Values. I keep saying I'm going to try one of the others some time, but the difference in price between the values and the moderates is considerable (up to 3 times as much!) and I just can't justify it, because the Values really serve all my needs. Clean room, Disney transportation, nice food court, great theming...
I kind of like the setup and location of Pop Century best, but any of the Values are fine in my book. I've never felt "out of place" at any of them.
