too many guest for one or two nights?

here is our situation......DH is going to a convention 1st week of Feb. Since he will NOT fly, we are going to drive and make this a family trip! YIPPEE
Question though, we are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) so we have always stayed in rooms for 5, but this time he will be offsite with his convention. We cannot stay with him because company is paying and making him share a room with another salesman.........what if he wants to stay with us the last night or even one other night???? Do we have to stay at Riverside again, or can we get away with staying at the Carribbean or POP? I would love to stay at a different resort and he may not even stay with us-it's just a possibility!

Both Pop and CBR have a limit of 4 people in standard rooms. You would not legally be able to add your DH to the room. If you "sneak" him in, he wouldn't have a kttw card, so would not be able to accompany you to EMH.

I just do not know what to do-I would love to stay at a new resort, but I guess we can always stay at riverside-just in case...........but I hate to see the week go by and him not stay with us at all, just knowing we could have stayed somewhere else..........another question....if we do stay at riverside, but do not get him the same tickets would he still have EMH if needed? I am not really sure how much we will see him.........

If you're going to EMH, your dh will need a ticket to get into the park. You then show your room key to get the wristband needed to be able to ride the rides during EMH.

If you stay at riverside simply inform the front desk that he is going to be with you for one or two days,whatever they will issue him a room key
we have done this several times and had no problems

Have you considered the Family Suites at the value hotels? Or, could you swing the Contemporary or the Polynesian? Or even a cabin at Ft. Wilderness?

Here is a little info about the Family Suites at All Star Music:

I love the pool activies and nightly movie they show on a large inflatable screen by the Calypso ( main) pool.

Here is a photo of the sign with posted activities for June 2008:

The Family Suites start at $184 a night duing the 2008 value season.

(FW Cabins run about $70 more a night than a Family Suite. If you rent a golf cart for easier transportation in the FW area than you need to figure about $50 more a day for the golf cart rental)


Most of the Disney resorts (excluding DVC) charge extra for more than 2 adults in a room.
The Family Suites do not charge extra for extra adults.
1-6 adults can stay in the Family Suites for the same et price.
The Family Suites have discounts available also so if you keep your eyes open you just may snag a great deal.

Family Suite info:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Here is the layout of the Family Suites:

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers
The pullout chair and large ottoman each pull out into standard size twin beds.
(4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed Internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

Although EMH might be a problem, perhaps he can stay with you on a night you aren't planning using them... due to an unforeseen events, my sister had to stay with us one night at a value and we didn't have a problem... we didn't use the pool, just the beds... she didn't have a key but she didn't need one... we didn't have any trouble. I wouldn't do it as a rule, but I also wouldn't think twice to do it again if I had to for a night.

We have stayed at both POR and the Family Suites before, loved them both-just looking for a new experience since most of the time we will only be 4! I guess I need to book the POR and just deal with it.....keep it leagal! As for the Contemporary and the others, just a little too expensive for us now.........we were not even planning on this trip-he only just found out about the business trip, so we are already stretching it just by going!

You can add him to your 'room" only for a night or 2 if the resort allows 5 in the room ( you did say 5 right?). If you add the meal plan i.e disney dinning, you will not be able to legally add him, unless you also add him to the dinning plan. We were told that the entire party would need to be on the same days/plan when we inquired about this same situation for my DH. I was told by a CM that my DH should get his own room - in order to not have to be on the meal plan huh ? Anyhow, now DH will not be joining us so it is not an issue. Still wondering if the CM gave me correct info? Hope it works out for you and have a great time on your trip.

Book the place you want for the first nights, then book por for the last 1 or 2 nights. That gives him the option of coming over, and it gives you a chance to stay somewhere new (& cheaper for 4!).

This won't work if you want him to have a room key so he can do EMH with you during the earlier part of the trip.

We're also 5, so we always end up in 2 rooms at the AS. More room than por & only about $10 more a night.

Now that is a great idea. I would book POP for just you and the kids. Then, when you dh can join you, I would move to a deluxe resort, just for that last night. Or, if he can make it for two nights, head to POR-AB. That might work out nicely.
