What is a moderate equivalent to?

We are used to staying at Hilton or Embassy Suites hotels.
We are planning our trip to Disney world and have already booked at Coronado Springs Resort.
Would you say the moderates or deluxes are equivalent to Hilton Chain hotels?
I don't want to get down there and be miserable with our accomidations.

Thanks.

I think mods are more closely related to nice Holiday Inns or Best Westerns. Keep in mind, they have exterior corridors and they are rather large. I would think that a deluxe would be more in keeping with Hilton properties. Of course, all this is relative and you could be staying a dumpy Hilton or a swanky HI.

That said, from what I've read, CSR is the most "deluxe" of all the mods. They have a fitness center, onsite spa services, a club, etc... I have stayed there yet, but the pictures of it at night are just beautiful. I think you'll be pretty happy at CSR.

Embassy suites are just that suites. If you are used to that kind of room or a kitchen a 1 or 2 bedroom villa would be a closer comparison, though not in $.!

CSR is the closest mod to a Hilton except for the exterior corridors.
It's worth it for the money.
The deluxes are a little more upscale but I think it's due more to a couple of extra restaurants and more impressive lobbies. At CSR, you'll get great service-at least on par with some of the deluxe hotels- and better than others.

I travel quite a bit and I think the mods are as good or better than some Hiltons or Marriotts.

I was just going to mention the exterior corridors as well. It's been explained that exterior corridors are very common in Florida, but being originally from the North, to me exterior corridors=motels=less desirable accommodation.

That said, the door of your room does not necessarily open to a parking lot--and certainly not a highway! Disney does a great job of having beautifully themed, landscaped grounds throughout the resort. Of the moderates and values, we've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, AllStar Movies, and Pop Century. Once I passed my initial , "What? No interior corridors?" instinct, I was fine. Funnily, out of the 3, we probably preferred AllStar Movies because of it's over-the-top fun Disney theming.

I think you'll be fine if you don't go expecting a Hilton-style traditional hotel. I agree it would be more like a beautifully themed Holiday Inn. I know there can be good and bad in every hotel chain, but I personally don't feel the Mods are equal to/better than Marriotts or Hiltons...esp. linens, toiletries, bathrooms.

I was very nervous about the exterior corridors when planning our first stay at CSR. We booked a standard room because we had a code and that's all that was available. We had a standard parking lot view.
When we arrived, I was so pleasnatly surprised. The landscaping was so lush that we could barely even see the parking lot! Disney does a great job screening the undesirable views.

Oh good. sounds like we made the right decision.

I really think that you'll love CSR. When my husband and I travel and stay at top hotels because I expect to be pampered and I feel like I am at CSR.

I think you'll love it. I stayed at CBR in 2006 and didn't even feel like I was still in the states! We had a room that faced the parking lot but you'd never know it. The landscape was so lush and beautiful! My friend stayed at CSR this August and can't stop raving about how beautiful it was and how much she enjoyed it. I don't think you'll be disappointed!!

CSR is beautiful. We've stayed seven times and will be making trip number eight next September (depending on the economy). Personally, we prefer the "exterior" doors--you don't hear the noise of kids running up and down the halls like we did at the Contemporary.

To answer your question, I would have to say that the deluxe rooms are more comparable to Hilton hotel rooms than the moderates. I agree with the above poster that the moderate rooms are more comparable to Holiday Inns or Comfort Inns. I would disagree that the moderate rooms are comparable to Marriotts - again, I would reserve such a comparison for the deluxes.

That being said, the above refers to the rooms only - an imporant distinction. The grounds and facilities at the moderates are comparable to the grounds and facilities of any top-level hotel or resort. In fact, I think the groundkeeping at the moderates is so appealing that it makes the external walkways downright desirable. And I do think that CSR is a tad more lush than the other moderates. For this reason, although we are used to staying in higher end hotels when we travel, we have not hesitated to stay at the moderates in Disney.

We regularly stay at Hilton properties. Comparing Mods to Hampton Inns and some Hilton Garden Inn standard rooms is probably pretty close. You'll never see the colors/pattern/decor combinations that are standard in CSR rooms and suites at any Hilton property. Doesn't necessarily make it bad, just that it's rather taste specific. An added bonus at CSR...I think they still have offer H2O bath products and lotion. Great stuff!
I do think that POR and POFQ have more toned down, restful decor that is along the lines of what Hampton Inn or Garden Inn might offer.

The grounds at all three properties are very pretty.
