Disney Really is For Families

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Universal. It was my first trip since the parks first opened and my wife had never been. Of course, we hold all theme parks to Disney's standards but whether or not that's fair is up for discussion. We wanted to see how the parks were before bringing out two DD's there for their first visit.

Anyways, we were both shocked at how many people stand in lines at Universal and IOA drinking alchohol. Although I no longer drink, it doesn't really bother me when others do, but it seemed like some of the people who were doing it didn't have any moderation. One man had to be escorted from one of the attractions for making an obscene joke very loudly.

Having said all that brings me to the point of how family oriented Disney is, and it's not just the parks, but the people who go themselves. Even though alchohol is served at the parks, I can't ever recall walking or standing in line next to someone who had obviously had quite a bit to drink. Kudos to Disney for truly being the family vacation destination!

Wow! Thanks for the info...I haven't been there in a long, long time. We just love Disney so going to Orlando-just is Disney for us. Was that the case throughout all of Universal or just in the other park (with roller coasters)-see I probably don't even know what I'm talking about!!!

Maybe is was just the day you were there. I was there in August and spent 7 days there and didn't see anything like you described.

I've been to WDW multiple times and only day have I seen inebriated people walking around in Epcot. They were in several different groups and at one point one "lady" was escorted out.

People who overindulge vacation everywhere and you're bound to see it happen at some point in time or another everywhere you go (although I will say cruises tend to be the worst).

We only noticed it at IOA, but that may have been just because we were finished with Universal by 11:30. I would really hope most people wouldn't be too intoxicated before noon.

I'm sure it happens everywhere, but as many times as I've been to Disney, I've never seen it there. It makes me glad that's the place I fell in love with as a kid. I would have been upset had someone made the comment the guy made at IOA when he was escorted out.

It is everywhere. We've been to USF and WDW many times and encountered a few people who had been overserved. From what I have seen, it occurs more frequently at Epcot than anywhere.
