Is Hollywood & Vine as awful as they say?

We went to Yak and Yeti for CS and it wasn't too bad. I would def. pick that over H and V any day of the week.

I hear a lot of people say they prefer Y&Y's CS over the sit-down. I'm that way with the Mexico pavilion.

Thanks for the heads up. That may be a good alternative.

As Padalyn said, we ate there in June. DHS is my least favorite park to eat in. But, I found H&V to be not bad. Due to my food allergies, I had a chef walk through, and I couldn't eat everything being offered the night we were there. I found the food to be pretty good overall. They had some really nice salads and sides. Turnover was good when we were there. Nothing looked or tasted old. The Chefs working knew how to properly season and nothing was salty like many buffets. We had a great server, I even requested to speak to a manager and stopped at guest services to fill out a guest comment card about him. We did the Fantasmic package, and quite frankly I don't think the Brown Derby is signature dining or worth 2 TS credits on the DDP.

Gak and Yucky.....I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me too. Horrible food, horrendous service, a chef and a FOH Manager who couldn't tell there own rear end from a rump roast. If you have food allergies, RED FLAG ALERT stay away. Everything we ordered was served wrong, either at the wrong temperature, wrong style, or we had no flatware. I could go on and on. Normally I give a place atleast two tries before writing it off, but this place was soo bad, it wont even get a second look at a menu let alone the inside.

OK... being that I am one of the moderators on the Restaurant Board, I want to make sure you get the best information..

So, if you have not, you might want to post on the DDP Board of the Restaurant Board....there people are so good about telling you which ones are worth what on the DDP etc..

If your Mom picked out Yak & Yeti, then go with it. We did it when it opened, we thought the appetizers were ok to good, not great for the money, but the entrees were not even ok. Service was ok....it was a new restaurant so we tried to take that into consideration.

I believe Spoodles is on the plan, I will look for you and I have always had a good meal there. http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-dining-plan.htm#rest those are the restaurants on the plan and this is the menu for Spoodles: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=70

I have met the chef at Spoodles and he is very conscientious about his restaurant and works hard to make sure they serve quality meals.

You know when all is said and done, it boils down to personal preference and who is cooking that night......

If you have any questions, c'mon over to the RB.. I promise they will not bite. Also, since I do not do the plan, by choice, I do not judge restaurants on how many credits they are worth. I judge on the quality of the food, the presentation, the service, etc. I do think that Brown Derby is consistently good quality with good service. My fave restaurant is Citrico's, which is fine dining at the Grand Floridian...

Thanks Mackey

I've eaten at the Brown Derby before and I don't think it's worth 2 TS credits either. It's good....but not $50 a plate good. (I'm estimating here: The DDP is $39 a day, writing off $15 for CS and snack, two TS credits are about $50) I prefer to sample the appetizers and desserts when I go there anyway.

As for Yak and Yeti...the CS may be a very good way to let Mom try their food.

And as far as H&V is concerned, I don't think Mom will like it. She doesn't like "fruit" sauces and after some research I found the chicken is in a berry sauce. I'm thinking I may scrap it and try 50's Prime Time.

PS-Thanks for the invite over to the Restaurant thread....I did ask this question there too..but it seems people are more inclined to answer me here cause they "know" me.
I think we'll brave the crowds for Fantasmic.

Ok that foods not great,but... I think you could have so much fun there! You seem like you would play right along.....if only I were going then we could both sing "I'M a little teapot" to the entire dinning room!

( I can't help it, when I am at WDW I am all kid.....well one thats old enough to drink.....)

The scary thing is: I don't drink and I'll go around singing "I'm a little Teapot"!!!:scared1: anyway.

No problem! :thumbsup2 I heard the TS of Y and Y was horrible as well, but the CS was pretty good. I had the shrimp lo-mein and it hit the spot.

By all means.....post where you are comfortable.. Now I am going to look for your post to see if you got answers cuz that kind of ticks me off a bit.. I am sorry they were not helpful to you.

And since you have already tried Brown Derby and do not think it is worth it yourself, then I would go where you are happiest...

Have a great time with your Mom.. :)

I found the post, 14 answers is not bad to that question and I see that one of our moderators on our board...who is an expert on dining at WDW, goes all the time, answered as well. Probably more fun here to ask as the answers are sometimes hilarious.. Anyway, have fun.

I haven't had H&V yet, everything I've read has forced me to avoid it. I will say that Mama Melrose is high on our list food is good, service has always been great. Brown Derby was good, but expensive. I'm glad I did it, but I wouldn't do it again unless someone else was paying!

So then???? When are we going????

Oh don't tempt me!!!!! This year is already booked (miami w/ parents, Denver w/ friends/ Tucson, San Diego and Disney with my dad and nephews) Then football starts!!!!

But I will let you know what the future holds as soon as I know!!!!:thumbsup2
