We are going to Universal for the first time since 1991. We have a DD6, and DS11. We will be spending 3 days and then moving onto Disney.
Anyone have any tips to share?

Get the 2 Park/7Day passes from their web site. It's unlimited admission to both parks for 7 days from the first day you use them. Are you staying on site there? If so, you get free Express Passes for the entire stay. An excellent perk.

3 Days is enough to do pretty much everything in both parks.

We are staying down the road at Omni Champions gate, I had a heck of a time finding something decent, most places were booked when I started making my ressies for Columbus Day Weekend.

We will be there for 2 days, I hope that is enough time.

Plenty of time. There may be a couple things you'll have to skip though. If there's a chance it may be crowded you may want to look into buying the Express Passes he same time you buy the tickets. The purchased Express Pass, though, is only good for one time for each ride that takes it.

I would not recommend buying the Express passes ahead of time for two reasons: You may not need it and there's no advantage to buying them ahead of time. You can purchase them at either park IF you feel the lines are getting too out of hand. If you buy them ahead of time and find out the lines aren't that bad, you've wasted a lot of money. Columbus Day isn't a huge holiday but it will be busier than a normal week but not that bad.

We just returned from there yesterday--the hotel is beautiful and the service was fabulous! You will definitely appreciate the lazy river after a long day at the parks!

We found that going to the right hand side of the parks first gave us a jump on things--The Simpsons, MIB, etc. were all walk-on first thing in the morning. That was not the case later in the day. The kids areas (Fievel, etc.) didn't open until 11 am, though and by the time we got back there, DD was too tired to play.

I agree. Wait and see before you by the Express Passes.

Nascar Cafe for the kids. Decent food and good atmosphere at reasonable prices.

If you aren't too tired from the rides, ride the boats over to the hotels and check them out. Try a pizza at Sals at PBH--delicious and cheap.

Stay away from Emeril's at citywalk--overpriced, stuffy and food--not so fantastic, but Tchop Chop--yummy and kids will like, too.

since you have only been at the studios side back in 91, i suggest you go to the universalorlando.com site and check out the interactive map.

you will get an idea of what each park offers you in the line of rides/attractions/food places, etc.

you can also get valuable info from that site for helping you plan your day.

I know, we ussually only go to Disney but DH wants to see all the new stuff.
Last time I was there we had just missed the opening of the back to the future ride!
