Does anyone's daughter have this year's American Girl doll Mia and any of her accessories? Any accessories she loves to play with or does not play so much with? Also, if you had an 18 month old who loves dolls and her name was Mia, would you consider buying it for her the Mia doll to play with one day when she gets older? Or is that just crazy? She got a Bitty Baby doll for Christmas this past year and just loves her.

TIA

I think it's a cute idea to get your daughter Mia to have someday!

My daughter has Mia. We got her the ice-skating rink to go with it. She really likes it but honestly doesn't use it that much. She also has her green ice-skating dress and when she puts that on her that's when she likes to use the rink. That's really it for our Mia collection. We didn't get any of the extra clothes and such because she like the more frilly stuff and I knew she wouldn't use those clothes as much.

I would definitely buy her to put up for later especially since her name is Mia too! You can put her away or even display her (out of reach for now). She's a limited edition so I don't think that the idea is crazy at all since she won't be around long.

We are AG fanatics at my house. I have had Mia since January and have all of her accessories. My dd won't get her until christmas though.
You know that Mia is only here for this year right? She can only be purchased until she sells out and last year Nicki (girl of the year 2007) sold out at the end of November beg of December. Don't wait much longer if you are considering buying her because otherwise you'll be one of those that way overpays for her on ebay at christmas when she sells out. The dolls store just fine in their boxes (I have the girl of the year Kailey from when my dd was born still in her box) until you are ready to give her to your dd. My daughter LOVES all of her dolls. She loves to dress them, play with the accessories, and brush their hair. Good thing is they have a hospital when the dolls need to be refreshed :rotfl:
Good luck...your daughter will love Mia when she's old enough to play with her :lovestruc

The AG doll hospital is pretty good, but they tried to switch dolls on us - we sent a vintage (before Mattel bought out Pleasant Company) Kirsten doll to have her eye fixed, and they said they couldn't fix it and sent us a new one - uh, no, I don't think so. DD was quite aware of the difference, and wanted 'her Kirsten' back - Mommy, where's Kirsten? This isn't Kirsten, is she lost, did they give her to someone else by mistake? - it was pretty traumatic for her at the time! I had to call a few times to track her down, but we did get her back (the original one, not just some old one they had there, that was impressive).

I'm soooo on the fence about Mia! DD11(12 at Christmas) is a figure skater and she is asking for Mia for Christmas. My problem is that she already has Emily, Jess, Nikki and a JLM doll that she loves but doesn't really play with that much. I know that at 12 her doll playing days are numbered so I'm not sure it will be worth the expense.

She just may be moving on in how she plays with them. My dd doesn't play with her dolls as much either, but she loves to dress them and have them on display in her room. She told me that she likes to look up and see them looking so pretty. She doesn't love them any less. :goodvibes

Thanks for the reponses. I do want to give Mia the AG Mia doll for Christmas. Even if it is on display in her room for a few years. Glad I am not the only one that would do that. I am not sure my DH understands :-)

So what other accessories should I get since I can only get them this year? I was thinking of maybe getting the starter collection and then her silver skate dress. I all ready bought the Bravo Mia book though at Target last week. I actually have been reading a few pages of it to my daughter for her bedtime stories and I am hooked, I want to finish the book.

I am also bummed that last years doll of the year sold out in November. I was hoping to order AG Mia in November. We are off to Disney next month and I am trying to save money. I was also hoping for a free shipping code. I think they had one last year before the holiday's. Any one remember? I also remember one in Feb of this year.

Do you think I could call AG and get a feel for how many dolls they have left in stock? Not that that means a 1000 people won't be calling in the next week to order her.

Oh I also want to order a doll stand and her hair and clip case. Though maybe I can just get a brush and that stuff later.

Thanks,
Kelly

My daughter got Mia for her birthday. She wanted her solely because she has red hair and green eyes just like her! We have no accessories at this point. I'm on the fence about buying much else for her as she hasn't shown much interest in anything other than her purple skates!:rotfl: I would definitely buy her and put her away for your daughter since she's a limited edition.

We have had Mia since January. DD is a skater. She has the rink and all the clothes (except new dress). She is getting the bed for her birthday and the new dress for her first synchro skating competition LOL

I would definitely buy her! We have all but 2 AG dolls, we also have the twins and bitty baby. We haven't bought any of the JLY ones, but we do have all the dolls of the year since Marisol.

We love AG and now I am getting my niece hooked too LOL

OMG that doesn't make me feel very good. I need to send one of our dolls away to the hospital...maybe I should put a mark on her body or something so I know she's the one we sent in? I'd be livid! I'm so glad you got her back...how tramatic for your little girl! Why would they want your vintage doll? Not like they can resell them...unless someone there wanted her to fix her and sell her for themselves???

I'd order any accessories specific to Mia and the rest can wait until she starts actually playing with the dolls. Do note though if you display her you should either keep the hair net on her or get a brush. the hair dries out (ends mostly) if you don't brush it often (and even if you do sometimes :rolleyes1 )

Thanks for posting this. We have SEVERAL dolls ourselves and my dh thinks I'm nuts. However that being said, he shelled out the $$ last christmas for our dd to get Nicki's world collection...I only wanted the doll and a few accessories (horse was the big one) but he insisted we'd buy everything and said this was the last doll :rotfl2: :lmao: Today he said I should order Mia to make sure she doesn't sell out and I said oh I thought you didn't want her to have another??? He just smirked. Little does he know Ive had her and all her stuff since January :rotfl2: chicago is opening their new store Oct 4th I think so we are planning a big trip downtown as dd has been asking to go to the dolly store. He just told me tonight we need a plan as to what we are willing to buy since she'll want everything in sight  He said we can't take her to the store and not buy her anything right? I said sure you can but I know YOU won't :rotfl: Men I swear :confused3

I actually just ordered Mia this morning for my daughter...missed out on Nikki last year and won't wait this year..lol
Anyway i would order Mia if i were you and just display her in your DD's room for now.

DD has three AG dolls and although she loves them a lot, she doesn't play with them like I had hoped she would. I think I play with them more than her....lol. Still if they made a girl of the year with her name I'd buy the collection.

Spare a thought for those of us who have to pay international postage and import duty every birthday and Xmas since our DD discovered AG dolls. They are not available here in the UK except for the mini dolls on Amazon. I wish they would sell the doll of the year in a mini version it would be lovely to let DD have one of each. She has two large dolls and three small and is hoping for more for her birthday in January and Christmas.

I would DEFINITELY buy a Mia doll for my daughter if that was her name!! Hoping for a lottery win so we can visit one of the AG stores.

If you are planning to send a doll to the AG Hospital, be very specific about what you want done and place a note (tape it on her body or whatever) stating as such. So if want the eyes fixed only, state that and if it cannot be done that you want your original, because sometimes they will just replace the whole head. Also it's nicer when the dolls have the strings on the back of the neck. If your doll is like this now and they have to fix something on her, they may replace the string with a zip tie. Again, write specific orders whether or not you want this done. Since you'll be going to an actual AGP store, you have the advantage of speaking to someone face-to-face but still attach a note.

My dd's birthday is Oct. 8 and I am contemplating taking her to the new store as a surprise. We go to the other ever year at least 1 time sometimes twice. We went in July, but I really want to go to the new store! I am thinking Mon. Oct. 13 since my dd doesn't have school.

I just ordered the Mia doll and her accessories to get her skates. I am hoping for free shipping in a month or two so I can get an outfit or two and also wouldn't mind getting an outfit for her bitty baby and maybe the bitty baby crib. I was hoping to hold out for free shipping to get the doll and to wait till after our trip, but I didn't want to risk it being sold out.
