Disney Visa question :

Does anyone here have a disney visa? I have recently ordered a disney visa from the WDW site and I was wondering about what disney reward points are?

I have money already put back to pay off my campground bill, but I was thinking if you have to spend so much on a disney visa to get some sort of reward points then I might pay the campground with the disney visa and then pay the visa off with the money I have put back for the campground bill.

What are those rewards, does anyone know? I was really getting the disney visa to have it just for our disney trip, in case we run low on cash, but I was wondering if I would be better off going ahead and using it now, to earn some sort of something ? TIA

We've been using a Disney Visa since we went to DL in '04. It works like this: you earn 1 Disney point for each $100 you charge on the card, or a reward rate of 1%. That goes into an account. When you are ready to use them you request a Reward Card. This looks like a Visa card, but instead of charging it to you Visa card, it goeas against your acquired points.

Sounds complicated, but it isn't. When you get the reward card, you keep it. When you want to use the points, just have them transferred to your card.

We ditched the debit card and checkbook, and just use the Disney Visa. We aren't charging extra things in order to get points, that defeats the purpose. We use it whenever we buy anything. We subtracts it from the checkbook ledger as if we used the debit card. When the Visa statement comes in, we check it against the checkbook, then pay the Visa bill, without subtracting that total from the checkbook (we did it in increments, remember?). We usually have $2-3,000 Visa bill each month, that equals 25-30 points per month.

Each reward point is equal to $1. We did this for 3 years, and when we went to WDW this past April, we had 850 reward points saved up. That was made an effective discount of $850 for the package.

Hope that helps. It's additional work, but it paid off on 2 different Disney trips.

Terri, I believe you earn $1 Disney reward dollar for every $100 dollars charged/spent on your Disney Visa card. You can redeem them for anything in WDW; hotels, park admission tix, dining, merchandise. You can also use them towards DL, Disney Cruise Line, and Adventures by Disney. Or you can use them outside the World at Disney Store and online at DisneyShopping.com and DisneyStore.com. I'm using mine for tix to MVMCP when I'm there in Nov. :santa:

OK so if I pay off my campground bill with the visa, which the remaining balance is 1033.63...then I should get 100.00 reward points...AKA 100 money on my visa?

At 1 percent it would be $10.00 per $1,000.00. So you would have $10.00.

Are you asking if the $10 rewards goes against your visa balance?:confused3 The rewards points are separate from your visa balance. The reward points accumulate until you ask them to send you a rewards card. Once you ask for the card there is a time limit to use the points.( Any unused points after the expiration date will be lost) After receiving the card and you accumulate more points by continuing to use your visa you can call and have the extra points added to the rewards card immediately.

Hey Terri!!!

I also have a Disney Visa and I love it! I max it out every month paying bills and pay it off when I get the statement. My credit limit is lower than I'd like, but I still make $15 a month for my kids to use on Disney pins. If my limit was higher I would save them for Disney trips!:thumbsup2

One great benefit is the personal time and photo op at Epcot every day in Innoventions. Every day from I think 3-4, I'll have to look this up...you can go to Innoventions to the fire truck to have personal time with the main WDW characters. They line starts forming about 30min. prior to start time, so go early. It is hard to find the exact place because it is so secret like?!?:confused3 Anyway, you show them your visa, tell them how many are in your party and then you go into a private room with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. I guess we spent 10 minutes with them all by ourselves. They take your picture(for your free photo) and you can have them use your camera for the rest of the pictures. You get a free 5x7(or maybe it was an 8x10) that you pick up at the front of Epcot later in the day. It was soooooo magical AND IT WAS FREE! You can do this once a day, every day you are there and get a free photo every time. Next time I will let my sister get her babies separately since I didn't know I could go everyday.

Guess you can tell I love this benefit!:rolleyes1

OH MY GOODNESS who knew....thanks for letting me know...I'm looking forward to this.
Safe watch is a thread on the community board where a lady found a huge old safe in her basement and she's been trying to get it open and it's become a lot of fun....the thread is called " I found a safe in my basement" ( sorry I don't know how to post a link) , she has pictures and everything....very interesting!

Mrsscooter- We do collect pins....GREAT!!

You can have the award points applied against your FW bill w/o even actually getting the awards card. Right now thru I think the the end of either next month or Nov they are giving 5 points for gas, food, hotels, and maybe one or two other categories of qualifying purchases.
