Upgrade vs. AP Renewal - My decision made

silence

Finally sat down to put together the final details of our trip next month.

We became first time AP holders in Sept. of last year. Our plan all along for this Oct. had been to get park hoppers w/early entry and then upgrade again after we used our EE.

So, looking online, an AP is running $269 if I buy today. My renewal = $239. So, $30 per AP, we have 5.

Plus I was thinking of when we could upgrade, and it would be the last day of our trip if we were doing the EE, which means, no food discounts, and with 2 character meals for the 5 of us, that is significant.

Needless to say, I'm upgrading my AP's tonight! They expire in 7 days. The cost vs. the EE or extending by 30 days for next year just wasn't worth it to us.

So this might be a good thing for us as well.... We will be paying $204 anyways per person for 7 day hopper and we are thinking will go to DL again in October 09 so that would save us money in the long run.....

Absolutely. After just 1 trip, we saved money.......

now granted, having an AP did give us the opportunity to schedule a couple of trips this past year that we wouldn't have made normally.....

But, we already have trips coming up in Nov. and January, so these APs will also be worth it for us.

yeah we will be getting one in December and then we will come back in October and who knows there might be a trip in between then as well....:cool1:

You have been warned lol the AP will make you go more then you thought you should.

This will be our 4th time since last dec and we are from utah I dont even want to think if we lived closer in california.

Heck, I'm going tomorrow!:rotfl:

That's one of the consequences of getting an AP. You may think that you're only going to use it for two visits spread out over the course of 365 days, but suddenly you begin to see things differently.

In my case, I've had the following things happen to me since September 2006. On that visit I decided against getting an AP. Well, lo and behold in December my little brother asks if I want to go down with him and his buddies in mid-December. This time I got the AP.

Fast forward to May where my brother again invites me to head down with him and a buddy, but since it was a blockout day I passed. He and I did go down a couple of weeks later for 3 days. Now, in August my mom and sister went to see Dr. Phil in Los Angeles and my dad drove them down in the motor home. Well, if L.A. wasn't close enough to Anaheim, but they opted to stay at an RV park in Anaheim. I also went down again in December right before my pass expired.

February of this year I renew my pass(premium this time). Friends of mine invited me to go down with them in June, and while down there, I find out that Sleeping Beauty is playing at the El Capitan in August. You know Hollywood isn't too far from Disneyland, so there's another long weekend. And to top it all off, my family starts to plan a trip in December. That's tenatively my next visit, but who knows. Another trip could come up again. In short, having an AP means that you can suddenly make more visits than you plan. It's a wonderful thing.
