Well, it's that time of year again - tomorrow starts the season with everyone without a loss - except of course the Redskins - man are they bad!
The schedule goes something like this - get up at 6:30 get the van packed by 7 or so - make sure I have the tickets and the beer - drive to son's apartment and pick him up - usually have to wake him up. Play with the dog while he gets dressed. Drive to Ralph Wilson Stadium and pull into Drive #2. Pay $20 for parking (that's with a $5 coupon!). Find a place to park, which is usually not too hard at this time in the morning 8:00 - 8:30.
Pull out the grill and cooler and crack a beer - usually a Moosehead or a large micro brew. Walk around a little, go to the radio stations sites - go back & crack another beer, read the paper, throw the football around, make fun of Seattle fans, crack more beer, eat some shrimp, chips, salsa - the usual. Between the two of us we usually go through a abou 1.5 cases of beer.
We usually start cooking around 11:30 - it'll be steak and baked potatoes tomorrow - when the Dolphins come town we usually eat fish
The rock stations do all sorts of neat stuff and we go to of those - dunk tanks, games, all sorts of stuff. Friends always show up and we share beer!
I always wear a Pat Tilman jersey - because I got sick of buying new Bills jerseys every year. I figure he was a Ranger and I was a Ranger, he was an American hero and I was a ........, he was a world class athlete and I was a ......... oh well. 1 OUT OF 3 AIN'T BAD.
We usually break down and head in around 12:30.
We get out sometime around 4 and usually stay in the lot for about an hour eating stuff and talking to other fans - no beer though, we gotta drive. The parking lot is a mess getting out. 80,000 people don't leave anywhere gracefully at the same time.
Here are some pics from last year - I'll post some from morrow's game later.
