Trading pins on a budget

Where do you all buy pins for trading? I was looking at Pin Castle and Mouse Pins online, but have never bought pins other than at WDW or the NYC Disney Store. I just don't want to buy something not real.

I tend to buy from both the places you listed but before i head to wdw I buy from ebay. i have puchased lots before our trips and have been happy with the results.

There are great sellers on ebay with 100 % feedback on thousands of transactions that sell pins in lots. You can pick up one of these lots for a little over two dollars a pin. I like the sellers that show you the exact pins you will purchase and not the grab bag sellers. This way you can pick a pin lot with some that you intend to keep for your collection.

i also recommend ebay. make sure that the seller specifies that there are NO sedesma, propins or euro pins. you want 'official' trading pins with the official insignia on the back. some CM's check for that now. if you don't know, make sure to ask before you bid. i've recently bought 100 pins then 20 pins in lots of ebay and am VERY happy with all of them.

I buy them when they're on sale at the Disney Store. Usually right after holidays or during their big sales. I've gotten them for as low as $1.99. I'll buy multiples of the same one if it's the cheapest. They are for trading afterall! :thumbsup2

I purchase my pins on ebay before we go. In fact I just purchased pins for $1.79 per pin!!! My kids don't care what pins are in the lots b/c they never keep them for long. In fact we had to take the pins away at one point last year and tell them to get on the rides. They were so engrossed in trading that they would forget to do other things. My eldest found every monorail except the red car on the last trip. After we returned I was able to find the red car on Ebay and give it to him for his birthday. I just picked up lanyards at the Disney store in VA last month for $3 and included 2 pins to trade. We took all the pins and place them in a shadow box which hangs in each of their rooms.

I think most are $8.95 (unless they've gone up).

I'm another vote for e-bay! But, as others have mentioned, and I'll echo, just be sure to check the sellers feedback and look closely at the descrptions for official pins. It doesn't matter how cheap they are if you can't trade them.

Funny e-bay story...There was a pin of Cinderella and Major (her horse) on e-bay and I kept being out bid everytime I found it. When I got to WDW one of the CM had it! I'm sure he thought I was crazy because I FREAKED! I dug out one of my traders that I had bought and finally got my good pin. It's definately one of my favorites!! I do enjoy the pin trading! :)

Personally, I buy from Pin Castle. I've even emailed them ahead of time and asked for no "girly" pins since I have 2 sons. They stand by their pins and I've never received anything that wasn't legit.

Thanks for all the replies.

I ordered from Pin Castle. These are just for trading so it doesn't really matter what we get. This will be the first time the kids did trading so we'll see how expensive it becomes.

I have bought from Gary at mousepinsonline numerous times... I also bought a one lot on ebay.. never again! They were fakes.. you can't tell it.. only those serious collectors can.. I was buying quite a bit for my little girl to take to the Contemp to trade.... be careful!

I actually have a pin listed on ebay and I guarantee that it's real. This is the first pin that I'm selling, so while I have 100% feedback, none of it is from the sale of pins. The pin that I'm selling is actually an exclusive for Disney Visa Cardholders so hopefully people will realize that it's authentic and not a fake.

I usually purchase from mousepins and pin castle myself. I also purchase from a small group of eBayers and have always been pleased with my purchases. If you like I can give you a list, just send me a PM. :)

We bought several (actually we have over 80 brand new, LE pins) from Disneyshopping online... they cost a smidge under $2.50 each (including shipping) to trade this upcoming trip. :goodvibes You can't beat their clearance, ecspecially when there are additional % off and/or free shipping! :thumbsup2

We did buy some last trip (our first WDW trip) from ebay and they were fine... we ask questions, looked closely at feedback and the listings. :goodvibes

We have about 100 total to trade this trip... it is so much fun! :upsidedow

The disney store in orland IL had landyards with 2 pins on them for 2.99 about 2 wks ago, and single pins for 2.99. Give them a call and have them shipped. I bought the landyards, a new one for each kid, plus one for my DS and BIL. If they don't want them, the kids will take the pins for trading.

Very good info. My son was talking about my Disney "necklace" last night. He is 4 and I would like to start one for him but I buy the Visa pins and a really large one for each year for myslef but he doesn't need those. I did buy him one Visa pin though. I'm not sure if he would trade thouhg. Kinda stingy LOL

Be Very Careful On Ebay-the First Time We Bought Pins It Was Great, The Second Time We Were In A Rush The Kids Were Saying This Is Such A Great Deal- I Did A Buy Now---never Got The Pins, Was Charged The $$ And Are Now Trying To Figure Out How To Rectify This Situation. My Bad, For Not Checking Seller Profile Right Away-when You Get Caught In The Moment And The Kids Are Yelling Please Please Please, You Have All Been There-you Understand.

Good Luck, I Will Buy Agian On Ebay Just Probably When They Are Sleeping Lol.
