I just wanted to say how much I love this thread, and thanks to Buckeye Gal for collecting post #1. :goodvibes
If there's one thing I've learned after lurking here for a bit, it's that EVERYTHING is in post #1 :rotfl:
Thanks! :thumbsup2

You are welcome, but that is not true. At least it's not true for another 2 minutes!

Thank YOU for such a wonderful contribution to our thread!!!!

I'm going to put a link in Post #1 to your Post #3037 showing recommended locations for views of Illuminations!!! So if you have any updates to make, may I ask you to just keep your post updated so everyone is always directed to the single source?

As for Costco water, I believe that the front desk will hold on to packages for you for at least a week before your arrival, so you should place your order 7 days before you get there, which should give sufficient time for the water to arrive. If it's just before a weekend, then you could probably place your order 8 days or so ahead. Then just claim your package from the front desk. Seeing as you're checking in on the 8th, and the 1st is Labor Day (so no postal stuff), I'd say your best bet would be to go ahead and order this weekend. By the time they ship it out and it gets there, it should be mid-to-late in the week, and it will be hopefully be waiting for you when you get there on Monday. Just make sure you put your name and the dates of your stay in the shipping info so POP knows what to do with the box and who to hold it for ;)
Thanks! :thumbsup2
:thanks:
Looks like I better get busy this weekend! :surfweb:

Here's my 2 cents...take it or leave it:) We ordered water by the gallon (2 for in room drinking) and a case that held 32 bottles and we had a lot left over. Last year we ordered 2 cases and drank most of it. The difference? We asked for the free ice water at the parks and brought in mix-ins. It was so nice to have cold water at our dispossal. The water comes from the soda machine, so it is filtered and I did not notice any taste...I am picky! We also had the dining plan at were given 2 drinks at the breakfasts we bought, as well as a drink at dinner and we had bought the mug before we realized how much they gave us. HTH

Can someone tell me how big the towels are?

POP towels are on the standard size - not the big fluffy ones, but fine. A couple of weeks ago we had several brand new towels - so new that the lint from the towels was everywhere! lol

There are no towels at the pools, so guests must take some from your room - sometimes housekeeping will leave towels near the elevator for guests, but not last visit - probably due to the tropical storm.

If you call, housekeeping will bring a bunch up to the room pretty quickly. :)

Have a great visit!:)

Thanks but how big is "standard size"? I know some hotels have small towels.

I was there 2 ngts alone due to Tropical Storm Fay...first time alone and was amazed how much I enjoyed myself. Just wandered around the resort, visited other resorts etc.

How long did you stay and where was your room location? Were you comfortable eating alone doing attractions alone etc? Thanks!

Glad you had a wonderful stay at POP!

I stayed for 3 days Aug 18-21. I was in the big wheel building (70's) top floor around the back of the building.

I had a great time! I was much more comfortable than I ever thought I'd be when eating alone! I had things to do in my bag and never once took anything out, people watching and relaxing did it for me!

I would DEF go solo again!

We were there the exact same days! LOL

I felt the same, but did not venture to any parks - wanted to save the rest of the days on the hopper for a later trip.

It was so easy to eat alone in the POP food court - perfectly comfortable! If it was too crowded I'd just take it back to the room and enjoy it there as well. Love to people watch and did have some nice chats with other guests.

Glad you had a great time as well!

Standard as in small. Not as big as a regualr bath towel, but more like the size of cheap bath towels.

Hmm, I don't think of the towels as that much smaller...but then I like small towels and prefer them at home too. Although the older towels at POP are pretty thin and flimsy.

Guess the best way to compare: value resort towels are the size of a Sears $3.99 towel, rather than a $12.00+ towel?

Sound about right? :)

I did my first solo trip last December and stayed at Pop (first time there as well) Loved the solo trip and LOVED Pop. I had no problem eating at sit down restaurants. Many times CM's talked to me and a few times couples sitting next to my table struck up conversations. People in line, on the bus, on rides struck up conversations. It's hard to be lonely at WDW. There's so much opportunity to throw out a comment and a conversation starts. I'm already planning my next one Dec. '09

We're going 4/17/09-4/24/09, staying at POP and I'm so excited. It's so long away, I hope I can make it :confused3

First, I'm so glad I found this thread. The info is fabulous! Thanks to all who put it together.

Second, a couple questions. How cool is Pal Mickey? Is he really worth the $65? He sounds really neat, but I'd like to know what those of you who have it think.

Also, I hope this isn't a stupid question...those towel animals that some are lucky enough to get in their rooms...are those your towels for the day and you break them apart to use them, or are they to keep and take home, or do you keep them for your stay, but leave them there at the end??? I'm just not sure.

Thanks!!

puppytrainer
- first of all love your name here.
We are proud Pal Mickey owners. To all the people who say he is too expensive, I would say they may spend that much on a plush animal or two at Disney. And those would not speak and fill you in on all kinds of events in the parks. Plus he can speak and do games when you have him at home. He becomes a great take home gift when you leave, and he is probably the only gift you may bring back on the next reip (tshirts and caps aside).

And photo ops throughout the parks with him and CMs can be fun!

As for the towel animals - a lot of them have been in the room or the window for some time and look a little dingey. So no we would not take one apart and use it, nor take one home. If its in the window when we check in, its in the window when we leave.

........and enjoy your stay at POP!

We NEVER :scared1: would take a towel animal apart!!
We got a new one almost each day this past trip. And we take them home!

Well just returned! I have lots of pics but can't upload them to the pop pic thread yet do to a computer problem hopefully it will be fixed in the next few days! I am on my Mom's computer now and I cant do pics here! :( So anyway! It was great we arrived on the 25th! and the first 2 dAYS it wasnt to bad! pretty reasonable crowds but once the 27th came wow! crowds! and there were lots of groups there also! but it was an awesome trip! We were in the 50's section building 2 right next to the Juke Box ! We were in rooms 2170 and 2171 they were connecting ground floor(1st floor) Pool View ! Everything I requested! I also faxed 7 days prior due to it being a busy time because of free dining! It was awesome and not to far from the food court although I think the first section of 70's rooms maybe a lil closer i could be wrong though! just seemed thaT way! Our housekeeper MARIA was awesome we got a new towel animal evryday! she was so awesome she made our vacation extra magical!!! They were also putting new mattresses in when we were there in the 50's section and i believe parts of the 60's! They didnt get to our rooms as of yet b feore we left! there were 13 trailers in the parking lot
over near the legendary years full of mattresses!!!!!!! I have pics of that also!
The buses were always packed most of the time standing room only unless
you were in the front of the line we only had one day that it poured other than that it was gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'll add more as I remember!!!
