Ok, so I have lurked in the wedding area long enough, I may as well get out all my plans and ideas to the wonderful Brides here. I am not a Disney Bride, but our theme is "Happily Ever After" and our lives have been a real fairytale!

Thanks for letting me house my thoughts and stuff here. I am going to be planning this with the help of my reception sites Wedding Coordinator, but there still feels like there is so much to do. And I feel a bit overwhelmed.

About us:

DF :groom: : Frank (38) -Graphic Designer- Before we were dating we were good friends. He had an extremely rare form of cancer about 5 years ago and was not expected to live. He survived, we met, became friends, and fell in love.

Me: :bride: Tracey (26) - Paralegal - I am a fan of fairytales. I always hoped to meet my Prince Charming. I found him when I least expected it.

The Proposal

So last night we decided to take our date night to Nantasket Beach, because the weather guy said it is the best night of the week. We head down, chit chating about the week and our busyiness. We got there and decided on a resturant, the Red Parrot, and had a great meal.

Then we headed for the carousel that they had there. It was awesome and was painted beautifully. It dated back to the early 1900's. They even had the carousel music playing. It was great. The sun was setting and we could see the orange sunset.

I always tell him to make wishes on stars and stuff, so his proposal focused on that, when he asked "you know what I wish for?" and I asked "what?", and I said "The same thing I always wish for: happily ever after," as he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him.

I was shocked and shook for a good bit of time. Honestly was the surprise of a lifetime!

I said yes about 3 or 4 times!!! There were tears and happiness.

The rest of the night was a blur. I remember that there was skeeball, but not much else.

Our date is set, but we are not announcing it to everyone until after our Disney Trip, we are just trying to enjoy the moment and get a jump on the planning!

October 17, 2009 will be here before we know it!!!

Welcome!!! and Congrats!!! :welcome:

I am a Paralegal too!! I can't wait to read about your plans!

Congratulations! It sounds like you got yourself a romantic and those are hard to come by :goodvibes

Being in Massachusetts is so picturesque in the fall, and so when we had to decide on a time of year to get married. We searched and found that availability was very limited. (One of the first, "you were right" comments I have received thus far.)

However the one place we both liked before we saw it (we had been to weddings there before) had the exact availability that we were looking for.

Here it is, Lake Pearl Luccianos: www.lakepearl.com

I love it here, and the bonus is that their package includes a DJ and a Cake of our choosing. The other added bonus is that it is located near our family, so they won't need to travel! Since my old bedroom has been changed into a craft room for my mother, my sister and I will stay in a hotel close to the church and reception site. Then DF and I will go back and spend our wedding night in the same room.

The church is still TBD... but hopefully after a meeting with the priest at the church where my parents got married, we will have a church as well.

Our date, October 17, 2009, is actually another big day, my DF's birthday. This was actually at his request, because he can remember his birthday, but not much else on the calendar... one of the side effects of chemo and radiation at the same time.

Your engagement story is soo cute!! Congrats ! I look forward to hearing your plans !

So a quick update on the plans:

We have a church!!!!

We are getting married at Saint Mary's Church in Holliston. The church where my parents were married and I was baptized. So it holds some history for me.
We met with the priest a couple of weeks ago and began the process!

The priest that is marrying us is a plesant man who has a dog named Loki. The dog is adorable. He warmed up to us toward the end of the meeting. We have to do the pre canna classes still and meet with him 5 more times before the rehersal.

Our schedule is starting to fill up with good things, and with Disney now less than 2 months away, we have started the final countdown!

Im here! I cant wait to read more. I am starting my planning journal. I am having an at home wedding & a disneymoon!

Aww what a cute engagement!! Congratulations :)

What an awesome engagement story fellow Massachusettsian (I'm just misplaced in Maine). I had to laugh though when I read about Nantasket beach - that's the one place I've ever stepped on a jellyfish! :rotfl: I laugh because I was poking it with my toe - I thought it was a misplaced **** implant! (I was young!!) But in all seriousness that's a beautiful place to get engaged and a beautiful time of year there. You should have great weather and temperatures. And the foliage!! :goodvibes

I'm getting married 5 days before you on Columbus Day, so YAY for us October 2009 brides! :yay:

I was just up in Maine over the weekend.... I enjoyed the fresh air!:goodvibes

And I am going to find your PJ right now!

I have been busy lately with the bridesmaid drama (Don't we all have one?) .... but have returned and I have developed a mantra:

I am the Bride
He is the Groom
This is our day!!

I swear I have not forgotten my PJ.

We have 3 hours between ceremony and cocktail hour. So we decided to rent a 1840's barn right across the street from the church and serve cider and tea and caramel apples. We will also have games going and pictures being done. :goodvibes I am really excited about it.

DF and I are going to order our cake from a popular cake place in MA called Konditor Meister this weekend. I know what I want for our cake... not the flavor but the design. I would love a 3/4 tiered square cake with white frosting and in white piping on each side is "And They Lived Happily Ever After" in 4 different languages (English, French, Italian, and German to honor our heritage) and orange roses in each corner with a topper TBD. The toppers we were talking about were a bride and groom dancing and a castle.
DF did not want a flower topper...It is his birthday, I have to let him decide something every once in a while!
