Best 7 day Eastern Itinerary?

Which is best- St. Maarten, St. Croix, or Tortola?

I dont know if it is the best or not, but we are booked on the May 23 Eastern with Tortola...the pictures look so beatiful!!! I am sure either you choose will be awesome!!!

I would have to say St. Croix. I booked the 2/28/09 sailing. This is the only Eastern I am willing to take as it is the only one that does not have U.S customs at St. Thomas. I know that sounds petty but the last thing I want to do in the middle of my vacation is wake up early in the morning to go through customs at a port were I have no intentions of leaving the ship.

We are doing the Tortola- I kind of wish we would've done the St. Croix one, so we won't have to get up to go through customs.

Really? Just to make sure I'm understanding (as it sounds so odd) Even if you are not planning on going in to port (just want to stay on the ship), you still have to get off the ship and go through customs? And then get back on? Is St. Thomas the only port that requires that?

It'd been 11 years since i've been on a cruise and I don't remember going through customs at any of the ports. Is this something new since then and what exactly do you have to do

Customs comes onto the ship. EVERYONE must get in line to be checked by customs in the Walt Disney theater. You will be given a time to go based on your dinner seating.

I believe everyone must go through before anyone is let off the ship.

Is this only at St. Thomas, or are there other ports you have to do that too? That seems so odd.

This happens in St Thomas only. The reason is that the ship stops at a "foreign port" (St Maarten) prior to arriving at St Thomas (A US port).

I had no clue. Thank you very much for explaining. We are planning for our first cruise, and that is very helpful to know.

And this will not be happening on the cruises to St. Croix because St. Croix is the U.S. The only forgin port on that cruise is Castaway Cay.
