UGH! I am not in the mood for this!

Are you prepared? I think we are pretty set here! Need to check a few things tomorrow like propane and gas, but other than that, I think we have everything we need to make it through a storm.

Are you ready?

I need batteries for my flashlight, but otherwise we're GTG. I doubt it's going to be much for anyone not on the coast though.

Ya, remember Charlie?

"You in Orlando are fine, it's gonna hit Tampa!"

Hey, I lost cable for about an hour with Charlie, and that was the extent of my damage. :rotfl:

Of course I was in Ft. Lauderdale for Andrew, so I've seen a real hurricane :scared1:

We moved here in May of 2004, so our first experience with hurricanes was Charlie, Frances, & Jean.

We're still newbies enough that we check and restock the hurricane kit on June 1st each year. I think we're pretty much set. I filled up the gas tank on my car before going in for surgery on Thursday, and having been on pain pills since, haven't driven, so it's still a full tank. I'll just need to remember to hit an ATM for cash and I'm good.

I need to fill up the water jugs, the water in them is a few months old. We are set on propane, gas, and canned goods. Guess a bottle of bourbon may come in handy! :confused3

Now lets sit back and watch the "unprepared" freak out on Monday and Tuesday when the gas stations run out of gas! :lmao:

That's not emergency supplies! That's a staple! :rotfl:

The bar at home is always fully stocked, and since we've been stocking up for the Hospitality Suite prior to "Our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding" we've got plenty of booze. (No room left in the wine cabinet. I guess we'll have to drink some soon. ;) )

You guys stay safe whatever you do.
I'll keep you all in my thoughts.
Rob, you'll be wearing a pink wig and a mini skirt. (hey! it's my thoughts..I can dress you however I want!)

Okay then.

In that case, you'll be dressed in a hot, heavy, restraining nun's outfit. :rotfl2:

yikes! The nun stuff ok....but please no hot and heavy. It's been over 100 degrees for two days here in Portland (I hate, hate, hate hate hate the heat)

You win, I'll be good. I'll dress you in a nice crisp white tennis outfit...I may even let you wear shorts instead of the skirt

So ConcK, are you on the ride out crew? I'm not, but I do work on Wednesday, so I'm a little concerned at the possibility that I may get stuck there for a while.pirate:

I'm signed up for the crew, but dont know if they will be calling one in. We'll see! :hyper:

This will be our first bought after moving here June 06, but I believe we are prepared as possible. Picking up cat meds tomorrow  . My biggest conern.. house / cat sitting for friends out in the country near Christmas :scared1: not sure their 4 legged kids will get along with mine and I sure as heck don't won't to ride anything out by myself in someone elses house :scared1:
Gawd I miss So Cal earthquakes, they just happen and no time to think about things :headache:
be safe all!!!

just me

:surfweb:

Oh, I hope you FL folks are all stocked up and ready to weather the storm. Hopefully, it's just going to be more of a rain event than an emergency event.

It's good to know that most of you are stocked up and ready for whatever Fay decides to dish out. Hang in there and let us know how you are. :grouphug:

What's a ride out crew?

Baically Disney Cast members who ride out the storm at work.

Those pesky tourists! They actually want to eat every few hours!:confused3

I'm not on the list, but they did ask me what size boot and raincoat I wore tonight!:sad2:

Charley did some real damage to our house, so we no longer dismiss hurricane preparations!

One thing we learned during the hurricanes of 2004 was that we needed WAY more supplies than is recommended. One gallon of water per person per day is completely insufficient for us. (Just watching a hurricane prep spiel and it recommends 17 gallons per person which is probably more likely, but sheesh! storing that is a challenge).

So, we're as ready as we can be. Vehicles filled with gas. Some cash, propane, charcoal... unfortunately a full freezer, so if power goes and is gone for any length of time we'll be having the Mother of all Cook Outs!

I don't much trust the forecast paths any longer either. Charley taught us that, one eh?

The intensity of Fay is not as strong as Charley, but the path could drop huge amounts of rain on our area, eh? We've had so much rain that that could end up a real problem.

What does Disney do for hurricane preparations? Hoe is it determined if the parks will close or not. Is there a system for making that decision or is the call left to one person?

Disney has stages, from 1 to 5.

1 (and I would think they would be at stage 1 by now) is pretty much watch the weather.

Around stage 3 they evacuate Fort Wilderness, start tying things down and getting things ready. By stage 5 the parks are closed and guests are asked to remain in their rooms.

Just watched the update on Channel 9, and Tom Terry still has his suit jacket on, so we are fine for now!:rotfl2:

Im guessing this is the Florida equal to our weather man wearing a white sport jacket? You dont even need to watch the report, if he is wearing a white coat its off to get gas for the snow blower.
