I'm 2 months and 2 days out. I still have GTY status. I guess I can stop checking every 2 hours now. My boss will like that (even though I probably won't stop - I need to know if I got upgraded - but it won't matter or change anything at all if I did or did not ).

We have two 12 GTYs booked for our family of six. We leave in just under two months so we hope to find something out around September 12! We just want to know where we will be and we hope our cabins will be close to each other!

If you book online, you have the option of picking a specific stateroom number. If you don't then you are put on GTY and will be booked into a stateroom for whatever category you selected with a slight chance of a upgrade. If booking through a TA or DCL they may or may not ask you if you want a specific stateroom. The same thing applies.

For Cat 12, the only sleep 3 but DCL allows groups of 4 to book into that cat. They will then automatically be upgraded to at least and cat 11.

Just make sure that when you book, you book a stateroom that you will be comfortable with, without expecting an upgrade.

I received my room number today and was so happy to learn I got the upgrade from 12 to 9 also! I was prepared for a cat 12 and would have been happy with it, but am so excited to have a cat 9. :

We got our room assignment about 40 days out. We were category 11 GTY and we are still category 11, but we got one of the sideways staterooms so I am really happy.

Semi-off/on topic.

If you choose your own stateroom, is it still possible to be upgraded? I have seen conflicting reports on this, so I just thought I would ask......again.

I read initially that GTY rooms are the only ones that got upgraded, and that if you want a particular deck/area, you can choose a room.

But, then I read that it IS possible to be upgraded even if you choose your own room, but that DCL does not take into account location preferences.

Can ya steer me right?
