We are booked at POP but after listening to Bobs review I am getting that we are not gonna like it feeling. So it will only cost $50 to upgrade to POR or POR FQ. Would you stay with POP or pick POR OR FQ. If you have stayed at POR which side do you like better and why. Thanks for your help.

I would definitely switch to POR or POFQ. Even though it's only 2 nights, I think for $50 it's worth it to switch. I would in a minute.

We stayed at POFQ and loved it. I'd stay there again any time. POR is very nice too, but I really liked the smaller complex of POFQ. We were in building 5 and it was perfect. Close to the pool and the main building, food court ect...Everything is a 2 minute walk pretty much at POFQ, which was my deciding factor between POFQ and POR...POR is just too big and spread out for me.

I've only stayed on the FQ side, so that got my vote. I like it for its size (super-small) and theming. If you were going to be relying a lot on the food court, though, or needed a really close-by restaurant, that might be an issue (though it's not that far to the POR restaurant.. just don't know if you want to eat there..). The boat to DTD is fun, too.

I haven't stayed at POP so I can't comment on a comparison, though if you're already in that 'dread' feeling mode, you might be saving yourself some stress by switching, right? Good luck, whatever you decide. :wizard:

That would depend, what was it in Bob's review that makes you think you won't like it? That might help in making the decision. Have you stayed at either of the Port Orleans properties, so that you know you like them.

I really have never seen much difference between the values and the moderates. If you could go up to a deluxe then I would grab it, but I'm not sure if it worth it to go up to a moderate.

You can buy a lot of dole whips w/ $50 :rotfl:

Well apparantly I can not add properly. It would be $150 difference and that is too much IMO so POP it is for us. The whole smelly room thing was sorta wigging me out. Oh well I will take a small smelly room for $150 to spend in the parks. I really need to stop over thinking this. It is only for 2 days. I definately have Disney OCD.

We stayed at Pop and really enjoyed it to the point that we nearly declined a free upgrade to CBR (silly us!) on our last trip!

We stayed in the Play Doh building (60's) facing Epcot and the 1st night there saw the fireworks from our room. We also loved playing ping pong while there and loved the theming and the hippy dippy pool. The life guards wore wild colored afro wigs when they entered the pool area to work! Too cute! We felt is was a step up from ASMo---that's for sure, but we also enjoyed ASMo in spite of a very pungent odor near the Buzz sidewalk (I later read this was mulch and not "other things I imagined."

Congrats---I think you will enjoy it there!

We stayed at pop last year and it was ok.
We are staying at port riverside this time and can't wait:goodvibes
My sister has stayed at por and said that she wouldn't stay anywhere else:lovestruc
She said it just has more of a relaxing fell and after long days at the park I'll be ready for it:cloud9:
Hope you have a great time no matter where you stay

I'd switch so fast that my head might spin!

$50 to switch for even two nights is absolutely worth it in my opinion. I would pick Port Orleans Riverside, but you can't go wrong with French Quarter either. :)

Have you listened to CorEy/Julie's review of POR (03-18-08)? They stayed in the Alligator Bayou section. I believe CorEy said it was his favorite on-site property. I had originally requested the Magnolia Bend section but switched to AB after listening to this show. Here's a link to a site with fantastic photos of both sections of POR....

I have never stayed anywhere else but I love POP. Maybe it is because we are only two adults and we only spend like 2 hours a day in the rooms. Now I'm sure I would love a Deluxe or a Mod I just can't justify the money for a bed. I guess it's all in how you use your room.

i voted for POR, but if it were me, i might stick with Pop...i voted to switch when i thought it was only $50 difference...for $150, i'd stick with pop...

although i've never stayed at the pop....but it looks like fun....
i've liked every disney resort i've ever stayed at - in all the price categories..
you can get a smelly room in any resort....if you do, ask to be moved...

Well apparantly I can not add properly. It would be $150 difference and that is too much IMO so POP it is for us. The whole smelly room thing was sorta wigging me out. Don't worry, you don't have to keep a smelly room :), I wouldn't! Even two days, is two days at Disney and you're worth a non smelly room so make sure and switch if it's like that. I'd forgotten what Bob said and I was like :confused3 what could he have said but I remember now :).
We love love love the Pop and have our 4th trip planned, but more for the spirit of the place than the room.

We have stayed at both and have enjoyed both. We like POP a lot. POR & POFQ are nice but not nice enough to spend an extra 150$ a night IMHO. I guess it depends on what you're in to. We enjoy the busy, kid filled, fun feel of POP. If we preferred a more quiet stay we would probably opt for POFQ or POR. Either way I'm sure you'll have a great time. Stick with POP. :thumbsup2

I voted for POFQ because it is small and I love staying there. I don't mind that it only has a food court because it has a nice food court and BEIGNETS. Nuff said.

Since it is one of the newer resorts, we found our room to be nice and "fresh" at POP---of course, it is smallish like the other values, but unlike the other values, we could not hear our neighbors flush the toilets, snore, etc. I say try Pop but promise yourself next time, you'll go moderate. Our recent stay at CBR spoiled us, but we'd still go to Pop again in a heartbeat. I agree with previous poster about Pop being more kid-focused.
