I have REALLY screwed up!! Please give me advice!!!

We live about an hour and a half away from Disney and I made reservations through DVC for my daughters birthday the 21st through the 23rd (next week). We planned on having just a couple little girls and their moms that we are close to come with us, we were going to swim, etc, but for her actual birthday dinner we were hoping to eat at 1900 park fare, wear princess dresses, and see Cinderella, etc. Well, I am sooo embarrassed to admit my stupidity, but I completely forgot to make a dinner reservation. Completely and totally forgot. I called this afternoon and they have nothing available for our whole stay. Nothing. He checked Chef Mickeys also, and I think another place, and nothing.

I am hoping that one of you creative people has some sort of idea of some way I can salvage this. She is going to be eight, if that helps at all. I just am at a total loss, and so disappointed in myself....I have no one to blame but myself for such a dumb mistake. If you have any ideas at all, someway we can do something special outside of the parks, I would be very grateful.

This late date will be tough. Maybe try for BBB on her birthday and dinner at a "fancy" place. Within 7 days you can generally call and see 'what's available in all of Epcot on a certain day' (Or MK or Monorail Resorts, or wherever)

I would *see* if you can get BBB and then see if you can get a nice TS anywhere. If you're dressed like a princess dinner anywhere feels super special!

Not sure how much help this will be but did you try:

Ohanna at the Poly?
Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at the Poly?
Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL?
Hoop Dee Doo Revue Dinner Show at the FWR?
Wonderland Tea at the GF? (I think only the girls can go - no moms)

I know these aren't very princessy places (well, the tea at the GF probably is) ... but with Ohanna or Spirit of Aloha you could go with a hawaiian theme which might be fun.

Just a longshot, but don't some of the off site places have character meals?

Can we assume he tried the Princess meals in Norway?

Or how about this: skip the whole meal theme and take everyone to the Main St. Barbershop for Princess 'dos to go with their dresses??

Don't beat yourself up over this-- we've all made mistakes when life got in the way of birthdays.

Worst case scenario, have pizza delivered to your room and order a birthday cake. The girls will never know what else you had planned.

I would keep calling and even try calling on the days you are there!! If nothing, why not try a great dinner at the Rainforest Cafe at DTD?? Or try Beaches and Cream and maybe order a "Kitchen Sink". How about a dinner at Cape May?

If it were me I would call and have a CM Try for ADRS at anything that might still be open..........Whispering Canyon, Mickey's Backyard Barbeque, Ohana......THere has to be something open, and it doesn't have to be the princess thing, although, I know it was your intent!! I would bet that your daughter would love any special dinner with her friends!

Yes, at this point I have thrown the whole princess thing out the window, and I am just looking for anything that would be fun. So I will try some of these things, and if you have any other ideas PLEASE keep them coming. I am so grateful!!

I second that vote for Beaches & Cream! The Kitchen Sink is a perfect birthday treat, the kids will love the food, and you CAN'T make ADRs for this place...so no one will know!

Have you considered the Disney Girl Perfectly Princess Tea Party with Sleeping Beauty at the GF? My dd loves the tea party.

I know that I read on another post that adults dressed in any type of costume are discouraged because it confuses children and they don't know who is a cast member and who isn't. A room service or private patio party might be a much better option.

We were just at the AKL and there had one terrace closed one evening for a private party, so it must be an option when space is available.

you can skip the princess thing...but how about getting matching Disney t-shirts for the kids on whatever their favorite disney theme is (I know the hannah montana stuff, High school musical also is very popular...and you can find some of those at inexpensive places like Walmart, too.) Pick up some matching, fancy hair doo-dads (you know what I mean...clip-in bling & such) then do your own version of BBB in your room with hair glitter and accessories. Matching shirts & special 'do's would help make the day memorable to the b-day girl. And make sure you get the b-day girl a birthday pin, so at least she'll get the Happy Birthday's from CM's at the parks.

If Beaches & Cream doesn't work, go to one of the Bakeries at Epcot for fancy pastries & do your own "tea party".

Or call it an "around the world Birthday tour" and go from place to place doing like a progressive dinner...get a croissant sandwich in france, a drink at the next country, a dessert at the next country...if you pick several small desserts & cut them small, the girls can have like tea-party sized desserts.

I am not familiar with the area but is there a Libby Lu or Build A Bear location close by? I know they do parties.

I have another idea. I was not clear where you are staying, but what about having the actual party be a beach party one day by the pool? You could get those plastic leis (girls love those), order them fancy drinks (shirley temples, etc.) with umbrellas in them, do pool and beach games, get them those little grass skirts (all stuff you can get at a party store). I am not sure if you need to make any arrangements with the hotel...but maybe they offer some kind of package or something. Maybe you can't rent a cabana as well...I am not sure what your budget is. You could probably put together something reasonable for what you would have spent on the dinner.

I love ALL your ideas. Right now here is my tentative plan:
We are staying at the DVC resort Saratoga Springs. We are having a pool lazy day, and that evening probably going to downtown disney to walk around and show our nails/hairdos/glitter off. I am really considering for her bday dinner the beaches and cream idea. we LOVE beaches and cream, and a kitchen sink would be so much fun.

Has anyone ever ordered the pizza from room service? Is it good at all? Worth getting? I would love to know this.

By the way, every other sort of TS buffet or character experience,etc, is full except for an Ohanas at 9:45. I am afraid that is probably too late for our little ones.

But you guys have reminded me to get my head back in the game, that we are still going to have a great time and there are lots of things to do. Thanks so much for your creativity.

I second this. The pizza from Giordano's is much better IMO than the pizza you can order from the Disney hotel. I have had pizza from both places. I believe Giordano's will deliver to most Disney Resorts if not all.

We stayed at SSR (DVC) for our October 2007 trip, and had our birthdays noted on the reservation (DS turned two on October 3 and I turned 35 on October 9) We had birthday buttons made up for us when we checked in and on our birthdays we had a signed card from a character and balloons delivered to our room FREE.

Not that you can guarantee that pixie dust, but just so you know my personal (and fairly recent) experience with Birthdays at SSR.

We got DH one at the GF when we were there for breakfast so YES you can get them at the resorts too.
