Hi everyone,
We are now just under 70 days from our Disney-at-Home wedding and I want to start this journal to share my ideas and advice for those who want a Disney wedding but can't do it for whatever reason.
I'll start this PJ with our engagement story.
Scott and I met in 2002 through an internet messageboard for a band we both liked. We'd been chatting for a little while through email and met face to face a few months later at a board meet in my hometown. A year later, at the start of the 2003-04 school year, I found myself needing a place to live for various dull reasons while I started college. Scott has been complaining how much he hated living alone and I ended up renting his spare bedroom. It worked out really well and he proposed at Christmas 2006.
The proposal was on the beach in a small seaside town called Eastbourne. We go there every Christmas for a few nights as the singer of the band we met through does an annual charity concert in a church nearby. Scott didn't buy a ring in advance as he wanted to be sure I would like it. We'd had lunch at a favourite restaurant and then went to the beach where we took some photos and he proposed, I got the full down on one knee treatment as I sat on a bit of wood.
We picked out our rings over the follwoing week and picked them up from the jewellers on Christmas Eve.
We agreed that the only fair way to decide who was told first out of the two families was to keep to our original Christmas plans and simply tell whomever we saw first (actually that's not strictly true, the first person we told was the singer of the band that night as if not for him we would not have met. We made a point of going to say thank you.)
We were spending Christmas with Scott's family so they found out first thing Christmas morning. Scott said he had "something to tell you" and they all froze thinking perhaps I was pregnant! When we announced our engagement, they very all over the moon. I doubt many Christmasses will top that one now as on Dec 11th, their first grandchild had been born and was now lying on the coffee table asleep.
My family found out a few days later. They (as would become a theme) weren't quite as elated, simply because they don't really place much value on marriage unlike Scott's family. My sister is unmarried with two children (although it was just 1 at the time) and my parents just had a quickkie wedding when mum figured she was pregnant with my sister! Scott's mum on the other hand would have beaten Scott (and his sister) with a broom if either had a baby outside wedlock.
Our first official act towards the wedding was sending out our Save the Dates which I made on the computer.
Obviously we are really just tying up lose ends now but I hope to update with posts on the various things we've done to Disney-fy our wedding.

If I wear it for more than a few hours I come out in a terribly painful rash that takes a few days to heal up. I'm hoping to put it on a chain after the wedding and wear it as a necklace. Seems the only metal I can wear as a ring is platinum which ramps up the cost pretty badly. I wore my wedding ring for a month to test it when I bought it - didn't want that problem again!
but it is the marquise shape with sharp points.
They were kind of an extravagance (£8/$15 for a pair of knickers - seriously!) but sooo worth it - check them out!
It seems to be a trend on here lately 
Save me a piece 
I've put in a request to our planner for our bottom layer to be marble cake with white chocolate and fresh strawberries for filling and the top layer as yellow cake with strawberry mousse filling - I dont know whether they can do it, but I'm crossing my fingers. I've been on a diet so I plan on eating plenty of that cake
