My husband and I actually saw an article about goth day at Disneyland several years ago in a Cleveland local free paper. There was a pic too! I'm pretty sure I remember it used to be held in August, so they must've realized moving it to the fall would be a wise idea

goth I'm not into but the psychobilly thing sounds interesting.. if it's anything like pin up/rockabilly type style I would definitely love to be in the parks to look at the clothing at least!

Sounds to me like besides rockabilly and punk there are also some elements of ska/surf music in there as well... (and I have been known to listen to a bit of ska now and again.. or maybe "ska light" lol). Make sure you listen at 03:35 to the phantom rockers doing "you spin me"!! haha.. that's some great stuff!

Psychobilly is actually a lot of fun, and I don't really get the comparison to it and emo and goth (which I like in small doses but is VERY different).

Look up Reverand Horton Heat and listen them perform Psychobilly Freakout, 400 Bucks, or One Time for Me. Heck, they will be at the House of Blues in Orlando on November 1. Get your tickets now and enjoy a lively show!

I'd agree.. well, I mean at least rockabilly and goth are two completely different things so psychobilly seems like it wouldn't be too goth either.

The style reminds me of the movie cry baby with johnny depp... sort of americana/rock and roll/greasers/punks/pin ups/leather jackets/muscle cars/tattoos/cigarettes in your shirt sleeve type of stuff! I love it!

Another big one in Psychobilly is Unknown Hinson. Yup, that is his name (stage name). He was named after his Daddy. Just like on his birth certificate. Momma, Ms. Hinson. Daddy...Unknown. He is the self proclaimed King of the Country Western Troubadors.

His has a ton of humor in it and he is fun to watch live. Check out Youtube for some video. He also does voice for Early Cuyler on Squidbillies. You can find it on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.

Another psychobilly fan here & no, I don't see any overlap between Goth & Psychobilly musically either. BTW- Snoopywoodstockus, were you at Heavy Rebel last weekend (big R'billy/Psychobilly weekender in NC)?

Luna- I don't know how far you are from Brooklyn but you may want to check out the Coney Island Rockabilly Festival happening in late August at...Coney Island.

I think the difference between goth and psycobilly is that one has a beat you can't dance to, and the other has strong harmonies to the lyrics... not sure which is which.

Heavy Rebel is a great time - we were at the first one, but we haven't been able to get back since then...even though it's only ten minutes from my house. A lot of old friends in that scene.
But there's always some out-of-town family thing that we have to get to on the 4th.

And I'll add to the comments - no real crossover between psychobilly and goths, although you could probably make a case for some of the horror-influenced psychobilly bands, like Demented Are Go, Nekromantix, etc.

Went to see Unknown Hinson at the Visualite Theater in Charlotte, NC on Saturday night.

Awesome show. He can flat wail on a guitar. He played most of the crowd favorites and then came back and encored with some awesome Hendrix covers.

Great time was had by all.

Thanks for the youtube link Luna99. It's a great touch of the iceberg that is psychobilly. I don't know that I will play it around my 4-year old, but me likey. I will echo the sentiment that I don't see the connection with goth other than the macabre sense to it...but what do I know? I think we can trust Disney to know all about the goth, psychobilly connection

I think the only connection is that it's not the norm, for lack of a better way to put it.

I think once upon a time, many of us had our "thing"...but there we are in the parks looking like everyone else on a hot day (and not wearing all black and a pound of eyeliner) lol
