Where are the people in Disney Animation?

My husband brought this point up to me recently and I had never really thought of it until then...

disney animated films haven't really had a big "human star" in a long time. All of the movies are about cars, monsters, rats, fish, and now robots/machines.

Does anyone know if any more disney movies with actual people characters will be coming out soon? Don't get me wrong.. I loved Finding Nemo ... but haven't really been all that thrilled with some of the other movies. (please don't flame me for that statement! That's just how I feel personally!).

I guess I miss the days of the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, pocahontas, aladdin, and Mulan!

oh, wait, I just realized the incredibles is about people.. so I guess my husband's theory is debunked... but I dunno.. I personally didn't really like that movie very much.

The Frog Princess is coming out. I'm not sure when, I think late this year? It is a non-Pixar, drawn animation movie.

I love Pixar movies, Nemo, Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and the Incredibles. I have them all on DVD and have watched them many times, but I know what you mean, even though I love the Pixar movies, I also miss movies like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, ect...I don't think "humans" come across so well in Pixar animation. They did a really good job with the Incredibles, but I still think people come across better in drawn animation.

oohh, that sounds good.. and I personally am much more a fan of the hand drawn animation films. The Frog Princess huh? as in the princess with the golden ball who drops it down the well ..etc..etc?

if that's the story then I remember a Muppet version of it done a long time ago that I loved as a kid.

thanks for the information WaltD4Me! :thumbsup2

The Incredibles had human stars. Granted they were superheros but they were human. Meet the Robinsons wre also human. The man supporting character of Ratatouille was Alfredo Linguini, who was a human.

What about the Disney movie (hand drawn) about the African American princess in New Orleans? I saw an article on it, but I can't remember when it's supposed to come out.

ok... now THAT sounds very interesting! I'd love to see something like that.

That's the Frog Princess movie mentioned up thread.

Here is a link about it, but I hear some things about the story have
been changed already.

thanks for the link! .. the one thing that made me laugh was: "The new movie will feature a soulful singing crocodile, voodoo spells, and the music of Randy Newman."

anytime I hear the name Randy Newman now.. all I can think of is the Family Guy scene with Randy Newman.

WOOOOO! THIS IS MY 1000th POST!!! lol. sorry. OT I know!

:faint:

Am I the only on who CAN NOT see Randy Newman making Broadway caliber music? :confused3 The main reason Enchanted was so good was the music by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, two Broadway composers.
