The Crew

Tony ……………….Driver and general gofer
Theresa…………….Scrapbook shopper extraordinaire
Peggy (my mum)…..I’ll go on anything as long as it’s not upside down or has big drops .
Zena (my aunt)…….Ditto

Got to Universal for 9.00 and went straight to the new Simpson’s Ride which is where the old Back to the Future used to be. As we walked up, I told mum she would have to have her height checked to make sure she was tall enough to ride and she headed over to the CM standing by the Itchy & scratchy height checking equipment. The CM laughed and said I think you are OK (By about a foot). I got a slap on the arm but it was worth it. The ride was great :thumbsup2 and well worth the 25 Minutes wait, if you want to know any details PM me but I’m not going to say too much as I don’t wish to spoil it for anyone.

We did virtually all the rides and shows, most had little or no queue. We did wait 30 mins for The Mummy but queues were the exception rather than the norm. After Disaster! I had coffee pangs so we stopped off at San Francisco Pastry Co. and had a coffee and cake. Theresa and I have annual passes which came with a second year free so we were happy. We get 10% off all food at Universal and IOA so we used my annual pass to get discount for us and then gave Theresa’s to Mum so she and Zena got it as well.

When we came out of The Mummy, Theresa’s locker wouldn’t open and she had to wait for an attendant to come and open it for her. She had to wait so long that the rest of us went and rode Twister and met her outside afterwards.

Lunch was just a quick pizza at Monsters Café as we had an ADR for Artist Point in the evening. It was good and again we had the 10% discount.
After T2 and the Monster Make Up Show, we couldn’t resist getting a milkshake from our favourite place Schwabs pharmacy; Cookie dough for Theresa and mint choc chip for me.

We left the park at about 4.00 and went back to the condo for a rest and then got ready for our ADR at Artist Point.

On the way back to the condo we stopped off at ………………………………...........Wal Mart :thumbsup2 to get some bubble wrap for Callum’s guitar and of course we couldn’t resist getting a few more bits and pieces. :faint: :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

I wore some of my new stuff from Sheplars and the ladies were also in smart casuals.

It started well as our table was in the middle and not in the most distant darkest corner as we had had on a number of occasions this trip.

I ordered the Buffalo Steak, medium rare and the others all went for the Pork Chop, which we were informed came medium, Theresa was happy with this but Mum and Zena, being old school, asked if they could have theirs well done. This was not a problem until they started to eat them, all three were very rare and no one wanted to eat them. We complained to the server who agreed they were very rare and took one of the meals over to the restaurant manager. He came over and asked if we would like another but we really didn’t want to wait for them to cook up some more and we had been put off of the pork chops now. He said he could understood our feelings and would take one of the meals off the bill completely and would give us all free desserts.

The menu had changed since we were there in November and I didn’t like it as much as before. We would still go back, but it has gone down in our opinion and is no longer on a par with Mythos.

On the plus side the Cappuccinos were excellent.::yes::

Great day :thumbsup2

Did you mum go on the mummy? I'm in two minds whether to go on or whether it is too scary for me! Is the Simpsons ride scary? :scared1:

Hi Jen
Simpsons isn't scary and yes Mum did the Mummy.:thumbsup2

How funny your Mum believed that she would have to be measured, you mean boy you :rotfl2:

another great day,:goodvibes my boys cant wait to see the new simpsons ride

another great day. keep hearing lots of bad things about lockers at Universal.

food looked great, shame it was undercooked.

Great day-We love UNI-and we can't wait to ride the Simpsons:thumbsup2 .Will it be ok for a 4yr old?.Your poor Mum-wicked you.Shame the food was'nt great-your steak did look good though+so did that first dessert.x.

Shame about the pork chops, i wouldn't have ate them either. Doesn't seem fair that you had to pay for 2 of them.

The ladies all look lovely and Theresa looks stunning again. Any pics of you in your Sheplars togs, Tone?

We've been a bit disappointed with Artist Point the last couple of times we've eaten there. Not enough to write if off completely, but it's definitely not where it should be IMHO (i.e. on a par with Jiko, Flying Fish, Citricos, for example). The one time I had the buffalo steak, I found it tough - almost to the point of being inedible. I ordered it medium rare, so it should have been OK.

The Simpsons Ride is fantastic - we thoroughly enjoyed our experience!!! :thumbsup2 And we always have trouble with the Universal lockers - stupid things...

Shame about the food at Artists Point - we've found it a bit hit and miss over the years but had a lovely meal there a couple of days before your visit, Tony... :confused3

Can you tell me about your guitar purchase? Where the prices cheaper?? How easy was it to get it home??? DS is an electric guitar fan and I love to get him a really fab one when we go next Easter... :goodvibes

Brilliant, I might have to try that one on Ruth. :lmao:

Great day, Tony. So pleased to hear that the Simpsons isn't scary, I really want to try it. I hope it isn't as bumpy as the old Back to the Future ride, we got really thrown around on that so only ever went on it once. I think your mum is so brave going on the Mummy - I haven't managed it yet, those guys on stilts scare me enough, let alone the ride!

Sorry about your AP meal, I would have hated that, I like meat to be very dead!

Laur's princess:

Thanks for the absolutely great photo of the simpsons ride.

Great Pics Tony....had me LOL at getting your poor mum checking her height! :lmao:

Great day :thumbsup2

I don't think The Mummy is scary though it is a fast ride and if you are not careful you can banged around. There are a couple of points where it stops quickly which if you are not ready for it make your head bang back on the head rest. All you can do is try it once and see what you think, I like it but do sit tensed up so I don't move round in the seat too much.:)
