I have four kids, age 2 - 8, and they are not the best swimmers. While my DH and I will be in the pool with them, I would feel more comfortable if I could pack their life vests or floaties or something. Does anyone know if you can have anything in the pool with you?

Yes you can definitely use life vests and floaties to swim in the pool.

The slides depend on which lifeguard is on duty - some will let them use the floaties and vest down the slide and some won't. THere are lots of kids using them in the pool though.

Are there no smelling smilies? I am disappointed!

I need one of a smilie smelling the Poly.

This is the best I could find...

I don't think those things are technically allowed on the slides (the slide liner can tear easily). If it's soft material with no "sharp" edges, they'll probably let you by.

Thanks! I feel so much better - altho more things to add to my packing list!

Well I finally have time to give a trip report from our May 28- June 5th stay. First off ...wow Poly is everything we wanted and hoped for it to be.
We stayed in Rapi Nui for the transportation factor. Being able to use the monorail over the bus was a huge plus for us.
Capt' Cooks ordering touch screens were great.....would have been better if there were a few more cashiers. Also if you didn't get a "snack" before the fireworks show then don't plan on the frigs having anything left.
My daughters LOVED the pool and the lei making and hula lessons in the lobby. I enjoyed a pineapple drink and thought of Seaspray.;)
We watched the fireworks from the pool one night but the music wasn't loud enough. We caught them futher down on the beach one night and just sat on the sidewalk. No music but much better view.
Our beds could have been better......lumpy for the price of the room but hey it was Disney and it was bearable. Thanks to information I found on here I was able to ensure my family had a wonderful time. I have dinner reviews available if anyone is interested (NOTE avoid Mama Melrose's....steak is best at Grand Floridian, the Spirit of Aloha is still great) The new Toy Story ride is cool but the wait is long even with a guest assistance pass. The new Playhouse Disney is a great improvement.
Note to self.........ignore husband and mother with regard to not needing rain coats each evening. I took mine and the kid's one evening at epcot they did not....it poured and we didn't get to watch the fireworks. No biggie as we saw them last year. LOL If the weather calls for more than a 20% chance then just plan on it pouring in Epcot from somewhere between 7-10 each night. Must be that dang ball that attracts the rain clouds.
We gave our stroller away each day when we would leave for afternoon naps. It never hurts to "pay it forward". I did notice a large amount of personal strollers this year. As a result it took longer to get through security going into the parks. I know I have more to report but am still on sensory overload from the trip. Ask me if you have any specific questions and I will see if I can answer them.

Are there alot of ducks or rabbits or other wild life at the Poly?

LOL Yes there are and they are not shy. The squirrels are a little scary actually with how close they will come to you looking for food.
We saw the ducks swimming in the quiet pool one night. Hmm hope no poop was left in there.

Wonderful video. I can't believe I took NO video this year. Maybe because we just went last year and videoed everything or maybe because DH went this year. I did take lots of photos though.

Last July my family had a GVC that was on the first floor. The ducks were always on the lawn outside, but knew if you were on the patio and had food. My son was enjoying some goldfish crackers and some Honey nut Cheerios. One duck came up to the patio and my son gave him a few Cheerios.

The ducks must have a sophisticated communication system that we humans can't see because within minutes just about every duck at the Poly was asking for a handout.:rotfl: Just a few quacks by one and the whole crew comes a running. It's a sight to see and those ducks seem to be living the life. My wife took a few pictures of it and I told her those ducks are living a better life than we do at home. They get to be at the Poly 24/7 and don't have to pay to stay there.

We got one too when we returned. I don't think we can afford to go even with it and WOW I can only imagine the heat during that time. It was bad enough in June.

Hi there Poly experts! Two questions for you.
1) Do you know if there is a clothesline you can pull out and use in the bathroom for hanging bathing suits on? Someone on another thread mentioned bringing clothespins.
2) I assumed the AC in the room would be our white noise but do you think I should bring one of those alarm clocks that has white noise and other sounds on it? I hate hearing sounds from other rooms. I guess the real question is how loud are the room air conditioners in the Poly?
Thanks! Only 2 more months to go!

Clothes lines were there and we used them. The AC was loud enough for me ....I gotta have my noise. We did notice that the maids would turn it to autofan and to 75F and then leave the window drapes open each day. Helps to have the drapes closed, fan on constant and the temp to more like 68F.

A little known fact about WDW: it doesn't matter what resort you are at, if you don't like your mattress, give housekeeping a call and they will replace them :thumbsup2

Well darn had I known that we would have called. DH complained with his back hurting each morning. A little alieve and some coffee and he was fine.

Be careful of those birds; One time they did poop all over our patio; I will never walk outside without my flipflops.
I never saw a bunny, though. I think that would be nice. :thumbsup2
