why are all the value resorts filled up in August

I called today to add on 5 nites to our trip that we booked with a bounceback rate and all the 3 all stars and PC were booked for August 5th till the 10th. They did have a few preferred rooms at the all star sports that I had to take. what going on? Is there some type of event beside the Baseball training camp? Would that fill the values up?

I believe it may be because if free dining.

Free dining does not begin until the end of the month

We had no problem with mid August - wide open with AAA, 2 weeks ago anyway.

The first week of August is traditionally a busier time.

Are you trying to book with the bounce back program? If so, then it is likely that all the rooms allocated for that program our taken, but not all of the rooms period.

No I already booked the bounce back for the 10th till the 16th. I was looking for a room for August 5th till the 10th. I called back to see but there is nothing open on line or over the phone except all star sports prefered room.Which I had to take to get a room at the value. Hoping some rooms will open up or an AP rate will come out for a mod room.

I think August is just going to be jam-packed crowded. We have a rack rate room at WL for Aug. 10-14. To pass the time while I wait for an AP rate I have been looking at availability at all deluxes in case I can't get an AP rate at WL. There are VERY slim pickings! I hate to say it, but we may be stuck with rack rate.
I had a pool view room at AKL on a AAA rate, but we ended up booking SSR on points for those dates and the new AKL dates didn't have a AAA rate offered. I switched from the rack rate AKL room to the rack rate WL room so DH and DS can do the fishing excursion out of the WL marina. I was planning to move to whatever resort had an AP rate and sending them to the marina in a cab if I needed to. I guess we'll see what happens.

I know that I am going to a huge conference at WDW during that time, that may be part of the reason. The conference is supposed to be at the Contemporary, but many may have booked the values. HTH!

It is the last "hurrah" before most kids go back to school (that's when we always went when DD was in school). We tried unsuccessfully to add days and even back in the old days (1990's) it was nearly impossible.

My guess is that the rates drop to value season then, so those of us who want those special rates book for that time, especially teachers who don't want to come home from Disney only to start school the following week! That was our situation last year. Unfortunately, we can't go every year!
