Driving Direction in WDW

Where can you find driving directions from your resort to the parks, is it necessary or are the signs sufficient? We are staying at POR, and have an early ADR at 8:10 for CRT, I thought it would be better to drive than wait for a bus.

The signage at Disney is really great. I've never had any trouble following along with the signs, and I can get lost in my own neighborhood.

I will add a note about going from POR to MK by car. (Of course, check all of this before doing it, as my memory has its bad moments!) It appears, if you look at a map, that the fastest way is to leave POR, take a right onto Bonnet Creek Road, a left onto Vista Blvd, and then turn onto World Drive shortly after you pass the entrance to FW. However, it doesn't work, as you'd actually be behind the MK toll plaza and past the turn off for the parking lot at the TTC. Also, it is a bit tricky to turn around there, as World Drive separates and the road away from the TTC takes you a long way before you can turn and head back on the other side of the road.

Best thing to do, if memory serves, is to take a left out of the resort onto Bonnet Creek Road (even though you'll be headed away from MK), take a right onto Disney Vacation Club Way (near OKW), take another quick right onto Epcot Drive, and then a right onto World Drive when you see that. You'll be very close to the toll plaza for the TTC - and on the correct side to go through to the parking lot.

Probably more info than you wanted, but, after many years of my Dad insisting the first way would work from FW, I can practically picture it in my head. Of course, if someone knows a back door way to the parking lot, that might be better!

Thanks, I'm like you, I don't have a great sense of direction either. Sad thing is my DH is just as bad as me. We are always trying to figure out where we are, when on vacation:rotfl2:

The only problem about getting to MK if you drive is you park at TTC, so you'll either have to take the monorail or ferry to MK. Why not just use the character meal bus? It will deliver you to MK.

If I can find my way around Disney property in my car - ANYONE CAN! Seriously, we find that the signs at Disney are very easy to follow. You really shouldn't have a problem. Enjoy your vacation!

I never bother with directions at WDW, I just follow the signs. Really and truly, the signs are set up so that it's easy to find any location on property from any other location.

In fact, directions and maps are more confusing, because there are no typical street signs with street names in some areas.

Just follow the big purple signs, and you won't get lost.

That is so true!. :thumbsup2

Just follow the Disney signs and don't worry about street signs.

the signs are fine..but beware !!!!!!!!!!!no-one is looking where they are driving,,,most are lost ,,,,they cut in front of you to change lanes 4 lanes over..go through red lights ,,,thats an everyday thing there,,iv done 97 miles an hour there in a rental dodge charger,,wanted to hit 100 but wife frreeekkkkeeeddd out...so keep an eye open

I am fanstastic with directions (at home), however at WDW I get lost constantly. I won't even drive in there anymore.

OP, I would truly consider taking a cab to the CR, but having the cabbie drop you off just before he turns into their driveway, from there you can walk to MK in 5-7 minutes (and its a lovely stroll too).

You cab will run you about $10, but it could possibly gain you about 45 minutes, between, walking to your car, driving to TTC, waiting on monorail and then getting to gate.

Take a cab, so worth every penny.

I agree with this. The best way to MK from any resort (other than the monorail resorts) is by bus, since the bus takes you all the way up the MK gates. If you go by car, you will have to park the car and then get the rest of the way to the park via ferry or monorail. Since you have to take some form of WDW transportation no matter what, the resort bus is easiest. (And, the bus will not be designated as a "character meal bus"; you just take the MK bus, just like you would for any other trip to the MK).
